Zermatt is the quintessential swiss alpine town. here you will find the Matterhorn and can ski to your hearts content. it is also touted as a gastronomical capital in Switzerland. this is true if you compare to a) the rest of Switzerland and/or b) the usual food you will find in a ski lodge. but if you mean REAL gastronomical,... One of the most iconic mountain peaks you'll ever see. If you're there in summer, a hike around the lower elevations of the Matterhorn is a must. Don't worry, a gondola can do some of the work for you if you aren't big into hiking.

We were lucky enough to have a room in Zermatt with a fantastic view of the Matterhorn and even luckier with the clear weather we had for the 2 date we were there. Definitely a "must see."

We visited here with some local Swiss people. We went to Zermatt and up the tram to look over at the Matterhorn - lovely views! Also visited the lovely wee church up the mountain. Well worth a visit (even in summer), and a nice cold beverage up the top!

We stayed in a room with a direct view of the Matterhorn. Amazing! As the sun rises, we took photographs of it. Zermatt is a really beautiful place where no cars are allowed. Good to walk around the place and enjoy the lovely scenery and friendly people.

I came to Zermatt with high expectations but seeing the Matterhorn met all of them. I was very lucky and had an entire day of clear weather and sun to explore and take photos. My second day in Zermatt was overcast and the mountain could not be seen at all so I would definitely keep this in mind when deciding... More

The train to the Matterhorn takes about 45 minutes, which is almost in Italy, but it's worth it! The view is amazing! There's a hotel, shopping, restaurant, everything you need up there to have a pleasant day!

What can I say, go there your self! It is a must to go here if you like skiing in the Alps. I didn´t dislike anything at all.

One of the Earth's great mountains. A magnet for climbers who can be seen from Zermatt below. A visit to the mountain climbers cemetery is a sobering experience. Worth a trip just to stand there and enjoy the majesty of it all.
