Have been here a few times during the summer. The village of Zermatt is a lovely place and car free which is nice. Would come back again and again. I am sure the place is buzzing during the ski season as well. there is plenty of hiking to do in the summer.

Took the cog train up to the Gornergrat for views and lunch. Basked in the sun, gazed at the unique geological monument known as the Matterhorn, truly a one of kind mountain!

Seeing the face of this magnificent mountain, second in height only to Mont Blanc on Europe's list, has been a must see for me since childhood. I was not disappointed. We took the train and two aerial lifts to the top of the Klein (little) Matterhorn. We stopped midway to adjust to the elevation and get our first photos. It... More

We stayed in Zermatt for a few days. It is stunning. We bought tickets for the gondola to the very top of the Matterhorn. There are stunning views and you can hike all around there. There is a nice restaurant at the top. We bought tickets right before we went up. If you have a Swiss Pass train ticket, you... More

Simply awesome. We took the cable car up to close to 14,000 feet elevation. The views are great and the cable car ride is well worth taking.

The mountain and its surroundings are even greater to visit than I expected, a bit similar feeling as with the pyramids in Gizah, Egypt, Wow, that tall? Well worth a journey. Saw it from different angles in shifting weather during two easy full day hikes out from Zermatt. Even with hail and thunder and mostly invisible it somehow loomed large... More

We were fortunate indeed to encounter clear days and enjoyed viewing the peak many times. It iwas a very strange feeling to be actually looking at the Matterhorn, because of all the times we have seen it protrayed on Swiss chocolates. Just as spectacular as we had imagined.

The walking tracks are great but need to take your time enjoying the beautiful scenery so better to double the estimated time from A to B. Tracks further from the Matterhorn are easier and yet more dramatic in its view as you'll take in the panoramic vista. Tracks closer to Matterhorn can gain altitude within 10mins of walking and so... The Matterhorn, a very beautiful & amazing mountain. Located in a beautiful village ~Zermatt~ adding the impression to me. Just that everything is very costly :))

A great walk up to the Hornli Hut to soak up the tension and the atmosphere of this great mountain. Good food at the hut and great views as the clouds sweep in and out.
