That is it - the first view of Matterhorn from the train and you feel like a million dollars - the train trip is breathtaking , its a good 45 min. ride to the base of Mt. Matterhorn. I strongly advise to bring your sunglasses. I forgot mine in the car in Zarmatt and almost went snow-blind with glare from... More

If you ski, you can't really miss it, but if not, it is still worth every minute! Different seasons will reveal different beauties, I love that train!

Cog railway climbs from the centre of town to 3000m injust over 20 minutes stopping at 4 stations on the way. Views of the Matterhorn at the top and on the eay up are breathtaking. From the top the views of the wider valley are also great. Opportunities to walk between stations on the way down. A short walk from... More

Expect to pay $100 per person to get to the top, at today's exchange rates, but it's better than collecting a bunch of souvenirs. There was no view from Gornergrat during our visit, but some of the stops along the way had lovely vistas and easy hiking. With your ticket, you're allowed to get on and off the train wherever... A relaxing train ride up the mountain with some spectacular views. If you're up for a bit of a hike just buy a one way ticket to the top and walk down as far as you like. There are several train stations along the way so you can choose where you want to stop and buy a ticket at the... More

This trip takes you up past the Matterhorn to the Gornegrat Hotel. There is a lovely cafe up there and an amazing view over the mountian ranges. Well worth doing.

This is a great train ride up a steep mountain side and is wonderfully worth it. The views at the top are rewarding and the photography opportunities are stunning. Bring a sweater because it will be chilly. Optionally, you can hike from Riffelalp (about 2 hours), but for low-landers the thin air at elevation makes it challenging. Definitely a good... More

We loved our day on Gornergrat!! Don't stress about taking photos on the train ride - the views from the top are way better than from a window on the train! Spend the 10 Swiss Francs and have a picture taken with a St Bernard - our friends still think it's one of their favorite photos!! We ate at the... More
