It's expensive, but once in a lifetime experience! Take your time to explore the whole place, enjoy a wine at the terrace admiring the gorgeous mountains and glaciers... I am quite sure you you carry this images for the rest of your life!

If you are in Zermatt, you are probably there to see the Matterhorn. There were lots of clouds in Zermatt and we were worried we would not see the mountain. But there it was clear as a bell. Not a lot to do when you get there but seeing the mountain from up there is wonderful and the train ride... More

A train to 10,000 feet. Views of every 4,000 meter peak in the area. Come for the day or even stay the night at the hotel. Great outside seating with food and drinks. If you are in the Alps you must get up into the Alps.

Well worth the trip up the Gonergrat Bahn of you are in Zermatt. The views of the Matterhorn are just amazing, along with the other 4000m peaks in the area.

Super views of the Matterhorn. The hotel cafe is not bad too. If your skiing, iconic run down the mountain.

Thge fenicular ride to the the top was awe inspiring. You could see the matterhorn about 2/3 of the time. Once at the top you had 360 degrees of being on top of the world. Make sure and take a jacket as it gets a little chilly. I wish I was still there, did not want to leave! Wish I... More

The return ticket is quite expensive but definitely worth the experience. The train is cheaper in the afternoon though for photographers i think morning to mid-day might give better lighting. There are some good views of the Matterhorn on the way up, make sure to be on the right hand side of the train, with seating for groups of 4... More

This is trip for half a day on a cog-wheel train .... the train ride of 35 mins is awesome ... the views of Matterhorn from the top of Gornergrat are brilliant. In summer, you should have lovely hiking trails as well.

I mistakenly thought that this was something less than modern. Since I have a touch of acrophobia, this gave me pause. However, the trip up was clean and smooth with excellent scenery. Up top the views were ineffably breathtaking. The price is steep at 84 Swiss Francs per person ( RT). However we took an afternoon trip up which dropped... More
