We took the Gornergrat bahn up to see a good view of the Matterhorn ! It was such a fun experience and breathtaking. We also took the tram, cable cars, funicular & gondolas to experience the entire mountain! It was a beautiful cold day.

Fantastic views along the way. Stunning sceneries of the Alps. Take time to stop along the way, especially at the bigger statins where you can get off and get back on (I think generally the ticket allows you to do that so long as it's in one direction). Purchase your ticket (on the train) before you arrive at Zermatt or... More

Wonderful views of the Matterhorn. Check the live web camera before going to the top. The train ride took about a half hour and was a wonderful experience for our daughter who is five. Keep your eyes open for Marmots and the black faced sheep.

On our recent trip to Zermatt we took the train up to Gornergrat, and it was one of the most amazing sites we have ever seen. The train winds its way up the mountain and eventually stops at the summit, providing some of the most breath taking views in the World. While at the top, my now husband was able... More

A stress-free way to get up to the pistes, but sometimes another carriage would be appreciated, as on the 15th Jan 2015 when the train was the only access to the slopes due to high winds, but the trains were only one carriage at peak times such as between 11am and 12noon

If you're skiing, this is an easy attraction to visit and at no additional cost to your lift pass, you can even ski down after enjoying lunch. If you're not skiing and don't have a discount, it's about CHF85 return, but well worth it. The views are fantastic and there's a hotel if you want to stay over. There are... More

It's CHF$38 per ticket with Swisspass. Bring you all the way from 1620m from Zermatt to 3089m at Gornergrat. Enjoy the slow ride and beautiful sights.

Don't rush! Give yourself at least 5 hours for the full experience. Time to take it all in. Spend a full day of it. Take a 30 to 45 minute train ride from Zermatt, then dine at the top (what looks like the top of the world) with outdoor seating. Then hike down 1 or 2 hours depending on your... More

The Gornergrat train is very convenient coming with the train from Täsch. Just at the train station, take the train up to 3100m and you will have a perfect panorama within 40 min. Even so starting the ski day from the Gornergrat is highly recommended, easy to reach Sunnegga or the Matterhorn Glacier.

I admit, I was thinking of NOT doing this. I mean, I just came from a total of 7 hour train ride from Zurich.. will I really submit myself to another 1 hour (up and down) .. a friend of mine told me I HAVE to do it. So I did. I'm SO GLAD I listened to her. The Matterhorn... More
