If you take the "train lift" to Sunnegga there is a restuarant right there with an elevator up to it. So if you have limited climbing ability you can use this. Great views of the Matterhorn. If you have a few hours you have several options. One option is to by a combi- ticket. You can walk around the mountain... More

Easy Funicular transport taking you up to a range of pistes which include one of the several learner areas. Quit a feat of engineering and quick to get to the summit and other gondola and chair lifts. Convenient lockers for shoes if you have a longer walk back to accommodation at the end of today.

nice to see they upgraded the equipment, now it does not sound like the cars are jumping out of the track on the way up there. Long hike through the tunnel to get to the train but super fast to get to the top

For my first time skiing in the alps, it was a let-down. We had bad weather, so didn't get any views of the mountains or the Matterhorn while skiing. If we could have had the views, my review of skiing zermatt may be different...... First of all, we were skiing mid week and 65% of the mountain was closed (... More

We went up Sunnegga to ski. Funicular ride was quick which is important for skiing time. We skied down from Sunnegga and would take chairlift up again to ski the same route. Very scenic and beautiful Matterhorn views. We were on blue runs and it was ok, just a lot of narrow runs. We also took chairlift up to Blauherd.... More

You need some muscles to get there. Its a hike to the tunnel mass transit, and a hike though the tunnels to the exit, let the train take the strain us the gornergrat

This is one of the three main areas of Zermatt and is reached by the underground from the town at 1600 metres. Sunnegga is at 2288 metres. From there you can reach Blauherd and Rothorn at 3103 metres. The skiing is attractive with a range of blues, redas, blacks and itinerary runs. It is probably the easiest area in Zermatt... More

We chose this ski area to get started in Zermatt. We were not complete beginners, but it felt good to start on some gentler slopes on our first day in Zermatt. After taking the train back down the mountain, there is an elevator that brings you to the top of the hill. You can ski back to your hotel from... More

The Sunnega lift is a high speed funicular railway that whisks passengers up the mountain in just a few minutes. The high speed funicular train runs in a tunnel between the village and the Sunnega slopes. From Sunnega skiers can access miles of sunny slopes and the famous "goumetweg" restaurants at Findeln which rank amongst the top mountain restaurants in... More
