The paradise for families. From Zermatt, you reach Sunnegga (2,288 m. above sea level) in only 4.5 minutes with the underground funicular. At Leisee lake, families can enjoy an adventure playground with attractive barbecue areas. Take a refreshing dip in the lake, or play Robinson Crusoe as you cross the water on a wooden raft attached to a cable that spans the lake. Off to the land of adventure!

Well worth a visit. The new trains do the journey to Sunnega in about 4 minutes. Nice views from the top, together with a cold beer - beautiful !

For 24 CHF you can get an adult return ticket to Sunnegga. We took advantage of this since we were aiming to spend the day hiking around the Five Lakes, a 6- to 7-mile trip at an altitude of 7 to 9 thousand feet. The funicular tram goes undersground and the ride to the top station at 7,507 feet (2288... More

You can enjoy great views of Matterhorn right off the funicular. The swimming lake Leisee is just minutes away and there's an elevator to get you there. We did the 5-lake trail from Blauherd to Sunnegga and we'd highly recommend it (though Moosjisee is not that beautiful and can be skipped).

Take the train up, then hike up several well marked trails. There are many fine restaurants up there too.

We took our rental bikes up and rode down, stopped for lunch and would have done it again if we hadn't run out of time.

We decided to take the mountain funicular up and rented a kick bike each to make our way down. It turned out to be a great way to enjoy the different sceneries and you can stop at your own pace to grab pictures or just to sit down amongst the flowers to rest. Just a short walk away from Zermatt... More

Sunnega paradise is easily accessible by the mountain funicular. The main attraction is that this area is less crowded. From there you take the single cable car lift to Rotthorn paradise. Sunnega has good views as well. Also options for a bit of hiking. The main plus point is the peace and quiet compared to Matterhorn glacier paradise and Gornergrat.... More

The funicular travels entirely inside the mountain (quite fast). Even to reach to it one has to walk couple of minutes in a tunnel. Nice hard work was needed to get it ready. Outside views are nice.

On a hot summer's day, we optimistically packed our swimming things having seen reviews about this beautiful area. Glad we did - swimming in Leisee Lake was fantastic! The view of the Matterhorn from here is superb. It's the perfect place to relax after a long walk, or just escape the crowds in Zermatt. The funicular only takes minutes and... More
