I don't think there are many places in the world where you can ski in September... Matterhorn Ski Paradise is one of them. It is expensive though, the gondola ride was 99CHF (~110USD) return.

Before my first visit to Zermatt one of my friends said "you will see the Matterhorn is a mountain unlike any you have seen before". Once you clap eyes on it you realise that this is true. The Matterhorn is unlike any other mountain. It has personality. There are days when you have proud Matterhorn, blazing in the sun as... More

The whole town is amazing, walking around the town or going for hike, one which is next to station which takes you to Kleene Matterhorn. Food quality in town is also great.

+ close to Zermatt (30 minutes by train ... a good tip is to leave your ski equipment in a locker in Zermatt after first day of skiing) + very nice area with great view from each room. + good tips from the host

Truly a magical and mystical place to visit; you expect a troll to jump out from around a corner as you explore this quaint village located high in the Swiss Alp’s at the base of die Matterhorn… Of course it is a tourist trap in the summer with hiking and touring the mountains plus a ski destination in the winter... We travelled by train to Zermatt not sure what to expect and found a beautiful village on top of the snow capped mountains. We were there in June so the mountains still had some snow on top so looked amazing and we loved walking through the village wandering through the streets of old homes, through the cemetery which has the... Beautiful scenery, challenging skiing, excellent choice of mountain restaurants. The resort has great character and is constantly being updated, great blend of old and new. Nightlife great fun and a fascinating place for people watching. Best shared with some who appreciates it. Not a good place to be on your own.
