Here there is always snow - and it is often the snow of piste dreams. It can however be extremely cold (-20 degrees C, and windy.) Choose the right day, and spend a few days on lower slopes adjusting to altitude. Emerging from the cable car, you walk through a long claustrophobic tunnel (perhaps 250 metres) and then get your... Zermatt is just amazing. Beautiful, so many options for skiing/boarding. It's called ski paradise for a reason. It is just an amazing place to visit. The village is quaint with lots of dining and shopping options. The mountain is expansive. The views are breathtaking. You can see France, Italy, Switzerland all from the top. On one side of the mountain,... More

Went with a very large group from a ski club - they needed more snow but what they had was just heaven ... The groomed glacier runs were much fun - never got tired of flying down them. There is so much to choose from - try taking the elevator down into the glacier from the top or hiking the... More

From immaculate runs, to queue-less chair lifts - this ski area rivals anything else in Europe. Twin that with the world class mountain cuisine you're on to a winner.

Over the last 24 years we have been all over Europe skiing including staying in cervinia but we have to say that the title of Europe best ski resort goes to zermatt . We've stayed multiple times in val disere , courcheval 1850 , megeve and chamonix but this was the first time in zermatt and we are stunned !!.... More

The domain is huge and you pay a huge price for that (79 CHF for a 1 day card). But it's so spread out that you mostly do long flat boring trails to join one part to another. Also, I don't like their way of grooming the slopes in the evening, instead of the morning. The snow is very hard/cold/icy... More

Extensive ski area that has something for everyone. The resort itself seems like it has been around for ever and feels really authentic.

We read a ton on going from Boston to Zermatt. Below is what we summarize: - Fly Swiss Air if possible due to the benefits, ease, direct to Zurich, and experience - Use Fly/Rail baggage where you check bags in Boston, and they appear in Zermat - This means no shlepping of luggage - This service was great. - We... I love Switzerland. Even in Switzerland, Zermatt is spectacular. Winter or Summer. Skiing or Hiking. Views of the Matterhorn. Views FROM the Matterhorn. Drink it all in!
