Good view of the Rhône valley and the surrounding vineyards from the top. Also nice to explore the vineyard at the foot of the hill.

Château de Tourbillon (Tourbillon Castle) and its neighbor, Eglise-Forteresse de Valère (also called Château de Valère) on the adjacent hill, command quite a presence in town. Make sure to visit them both. You can't miss them perched on two separate hills in the middle of the valley with the Rhône River flowing past the base of Tourbillon. Do not just... More

The walk to the top is steep in places, but it isn't terrible. We had a wonderful guide, a retired gentleman that spoke French and English. A nice start of the day climbing up to the castle and enjoy the surroundings. Historic walk first in town and then steep uphill!

This was a lovely afternoon, firstly visiting Valere Castle where the organ was playing bring you back to the Middle Ages. Afterward we walked up for beautiful view and a picnic, a great day out even the teenagers enjoyed the challenge and the view.

This castle and its neighbour, the Basilique de Valere are both well worth a visit. Walk or take the little 'train' up the Rue des Chateaux to a flat area with a cafe and toilets. From there, choose your castle. I was curious about the walking time having read some earlier reviews, but it took me 13 mins to walk... More
