Amazing view!!

Going on this hill was probably the best part of our trip to Lugano - the view from up there is EXCEPTIONAL. Loved this place.

Monte San Salvatore is only opened till 2nd November in 2014 (for the funicular). Hence remember to check for opening timings else you will have to hike up. If you are driving, upon buying the tickets, do let the lady know so that you can pick up a parking coin (for exiting the carpark later). At the top, there's a... More

I ran the path up to the top today. The path is easy to follow. I ran in my race shoes, and that was a fail. The path is made for trail shoes og hiking boots. The first 2 km up is about 24% and the last km is a bit easyer. A beautiful path and a very nice view... More

Spectacular panoramic view of the landscape of Lugano and a great view of the region. Very good experience with the funicular. Certainly worth it!

Took the funicular from Paradiso on the last day it was running this year, so got reduced price ticket and musical entertainment at the restaurant at the top of Monte San Salvatore. The views from the restaurant veranda were fantastic, but even better, and well worth it, were the views after a steep climb to the top of the church.... More

A bit pricey. Have to change and take a second funicular. If a funicular arrives- take it. Otherwise you have to wait 20 or 30 minutes and then, if it's crowded, you still might have people standing in front of you. if you get a seat, someone is sure to stand in front of you. We went late morning and... More

Walk up from Paradiso or Carona (nicer, but you need a good map to find the start of the hiking trail). Take the cable car down.

In Lugano, Switzerland, do not miss the opportunity to take the funicular ride to the top of Monte San Salvatore. The panoramic views are simply spectacular! There is a restaurant at the top, along with a beautiful old chapel. Be sure to take the narrow stairway on top of the chapel where you will find the most spectacular views of... More

To reach Monte San Salvatore, one needs to take a funicular which is located in a town called Paradiso. Paradiso can be reached from Lugano by walking (~30 min) or by bus (~10 min). It is about 5 minute walk to the the funicular station. The ride to the Mountain is about 10-15 minutes. From the funicular station on the... More

The funicular trip from Paridiso to the summit is fantastic. Once you get there, the views are spectacular. Not to be missed!
