Wonderful late season snow thanks to the altitude. Small field compared to its St. Moritz cousins. Good for a half day.
Yes Diavolezza has spectacular views and is a must see, but if you choose to ski the glacier from the top of the lift, be prepared for some challenging skiing. There is a narrow traverse from the top of the mountain to the glacier that is a little intimidating because of the steep drop off. Once at the top of... More
Anyone vacationing in the Engadin, i.e. St. Moritz or crossing into Italia via the Bernina Pass should not miss the Diavolezza. It is one of the most spectacular views of the alps with several large glaciers and snow covered peaks. A comfortable cable car takes you to over 9,700 feet. A great day out with the family, but it needs to be on a sunny clear day. There is a BBQ area that is advertised as the "highest BBQ in Europe" The food and coal and be ordered through the restaurant the night before. (or take your own food and collect the coal from the restaurant) Just be aware that... More
The view was great and the sunny weather made a big difference. Cable car is conveniently located near the Bernina Diavolezza train station. The cable car was packed (with skiers) in the winter but it was still possible to get great pictures. I would look up the train and cable car timings online before visiting.
must visit , just for the view 360' from the top; one needs to go up on a clear day; easy cable car ride and a great restaurant on top, including a hotel!
Great stopping point on the way to Italy - a really wonderful train journey. The views are magnificent and the place is really peaceful just to sit and stare at the glacier (or to set off back into the valley if you're that way inclined). Free if you qualify for an all inclusive card from your hotel.
Incredible views of the glacier when you get out of the cable car. We then walked 20 minutes to get to the top of Sass Queder. The path is quite well marked and we managed it ok with an adventurous 7 year old. The 360 view from the top of Sass Queder are phenomenal. The best views so far on... More
