We took a fairy tale train journey through the valleys and mountains to get here. Picture postcard all the way. The Eiger mists played with us a while but she divested herself of clouds and that huge wall of mountain before us came out to say a spectacular hello! The train back down through Grindelwald was just as giving and... More

We enjoyed an easy hike from Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidegg. The walk is about 2 miles and mostly downhill in the direction we went. The views are amazing - the trio of Eiger/Monch/Jungfrau in front of you, valleys and wildflowers all around you. After our hike we had lunch in Kleine Scheidegg and enjoyed watching the Jungfraujoch train head out... More

We hiked from Kleine Sheidegg to Maennlichen. The route was easy and almost flat with some ups and downs. It took about 1.5 hrs. The reason I would recommend the opposite direction is the beautiful mountain tops covered with snow were always behind us. We walked on th trail while looking back. By the way, we took this hiking route... More

As the rail to the top goes from here, everyone must stop here for varying times. There isn't a lot here - we had originally thought to leave time here to wander about but after getting there were glad we hadn't as there wasn't much to see or do

Our favorite easy hike in the Alps is from Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidegg. The trail is well-marked and relatively easy, with stunning views of the fantastic seemingly at your fingertips. We have hiked all the way to Wengen on this same trail. Klein Scheidegg is a junction for trains going up and coming down from Jungfrau. There are good facilities... More

Years ago when I couldn't afford the full trip to the Jungfaujoch I came here to sample the atmosphere and see the classic trio of Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau and take a walk below the Eiger's north face. It's still a must do on even a day visit to the area but if you're staying a one way trip (half... More

This train station on the way to Jungfraujoch gives you the opportunity to marvel at the immense mountain wall and makes you think about how hard it was to build the railway that goes to the top of the mountains.

Nice view all the way to this station as you travel from Interlaken or Wilderswil or Wengen. One can see a grand spectacle in the form of alpen mountains on the way. The station itself gives a good feel. Worth a visit. It is necessary to travel up to Jungfraujoch.

Based on the recommendation of Swiss friends we drove to Grindelwald from where we took the train up the mountain to the Kleines Scheidegg. I am glad we did! First of all, Grindelwald is quite accessible from Bern & Fribourg. Second, there are very good options in the town for eating, sleeping, and shopping, if desired. The ride up to... More
