I opted for the Schynige Platte to FIrst route which includes Mt Faulhorn. It is an outstanding hike with wonderful views of both the Alps, including the big 3 mountains as well as the valley which includes Interlaken and Lakes Brienz and Thun. The hike is approximately 17kms but is well sign posted the enture way, even when there is... More

nThe path from Schynige Platte to Faulhorn the Faulhornwag is one of the outstanding ridge walks of the Alps. My only bit of advice, don't drink the coffee if it is shipped in by helicopter.

We hiked from Schynige Platte to First and stopped at the Faulhorn Hut for lunch. We took the steeper route up and the gentler route down because that was the direction we were travelling. If you are reasonably fit you won't have any problem with either route. I managed to snag a table right at the railing. What a view!... More

From First via the Bachsee walk, carry on up the pass and turn right to the Faulhorn, reputedly one of thre oldest hotels in Switzerland, pereched on the top. The effort is well rewarded with stunning views to the north and the Brienzersee, with a panorama of mountain views in all other directions including the Eiger, Wetterhorn, Shilthorn etc. Preferred... Its exactly as the title states, it was 15 full kilo metres of epicness. There is a bit of work envolved and the price does add up, but this is the worlds longest taboggan run and the ride is worth it, not only are you racing down steep slopes and carving up snow at some crazy speeds dodging other sleders... We walked from Schinege Platte to First and took the detour over Faulhorn. It was hot, 30+ degrees in the full mid afternoon sun, but it was well worth it. The views from the top are beautiful and it is such a reward to get there and enjoy that view. We neither ate nor drank here, we simply used the... More

Come prepared! Well worth the effort but this is a strenuous path and I had some altitude sickness towards the top and it started getting very cold as the sunset. But, an incredible view especially at night or during the sunrise/sunset. It took my friends and I 5 and a half hours hiking from Grindelwald - First - Faulhorn. But,... More

Recommend walking from First to Schinege Platte and going to the top of the Faulhorn for the views - a classic alpine walk and we'll worth the effort

We hiked for 5 days in the Jungfrau region - hiked up to the magnificent Faulhorn to get out of a terrible rain storm. We were welcomed with a hot bowl of soup and very pleasant staff. We didn't stay the night but would certainly include it in our next trip!

We did the hike from Schynige Platte to faulhorn which is a 4 hr uphill beautiful hike filled with cows, greenery, rocks and lakes. One of National Geographics top hikes but dress accordingly and wear the right shoes and prepare to sweat in any temperatures and wear sunscreen. The hotel was situated impossibly on top of the cliffs overlooking the... More
