Took the gondola up to the top of First and had lunch on the open air deck, with warm cozy sheepskins warming our backsides. Watched para gliders soaring overhead and then down into the valley of Grindelwald. Saw mountain goats (sheep?) high on top the glaciers. Then took a walk up to the Bachalpsee and back. Lunch prices comparable to... More

Check out the zip wire ride - 27CHF and looks exhilarating. Great walks to Kleine Scheidegg and to the lakes.

Did it on a sunny fall day. While tickets are pricey at $57 per person, I thought it was worth it. We took the cable car up, did a light 2hr hike to the Scheidegg. The views along the hike were spectacular. Instead of the cable car we took the Post bus down to the valley. The cable car ticket... More

I nice outing of 30 minutes in cablecar, with impresive views and nice walks. The price is 57 sfr which is unjustified, however if you get a half price discount ( as i got, as offered by my hotel ) it sounds more reasonable.

Grindelwald another lovely villages of Switzerland. We took the Gondola to go to the top of First mountain. The view out there was very nice one can see snow laden mountains and para gliders all around. We did the First Flyer and it was an exhilarating experience. On coming down we also did the Trot Biking and it was a... More

The hike from First to Bachalpsee is incredibly scenic. It takes around 2-3 hours to get to First from Interlaken (train to Grindelwald, bus to First flyer, then an expensive cable car to the top of the mountain). The trail to Bachalpsee is relatively flat, though there are some upward sections. The scenery is amazing though. You can see snow... More

The number of trails and beautiful views and surroundings makes this place special for everyone. Hiking down from First to Grindelwald can be harsh, as it is steep sometimes - although it asphalt covered. The flowers, green grass, mountain views and cows are a sight not to miss though. Top of First features a nice alpine bar.

Went with my wife and one year old son up the cable car to First and then hiked to Faulhorn and back. Sadly we ran into some bad weather and early season snow, but the views that we saw before the weather hit were great. The hike was also a good one, and the restaurant up on Faulhorn was a... More

A day excursion up the Grindelwald-First cable car should include a hike to Bachalspee Lake (about a 50-minute walk each way) - the views of the Alps are breath-taking ! However, at 7,000 feet elevation, prepare yourself for the rigors of a moderate trail walk (up and down grades), but on a well-maintained tourist path. Pack a sack lunch -... More
