This is a must do trip for anyone who visits the region. It's even well worth a detour. This railway is a UNESCO world heritage site, twisting and winding through the Swiss Alps. We rode in 2nd class scenic view cars from Chur, Switzerland through to Tirano, Italy. I saw no need to pay extra for the 1st class seats,... More

This is ALL about the journey which is spectacular! The destination, St Moritz is pricey and overrated. My tip would be to take an early train, get off for a couple of hours and visit the FREE glacier garden at hidden gem Cavaglia - bring sandwiches for picnic at lookout point. Stunning

We did both the Bernina Express train and bus. We caught the train from Davos as we wanted to spent a day in the alps prior to the train and didn't hear good reviews about Chur. We were glad we chose Davos, beautiful area, stayed at the Hotel Grischa which is directly opposite the train station, amazing hotel, they say... More

One of the aims of our trip to Milan was to see the Bernina pass and we planned to do it within a day. This was what we set out to do: 08:20 - 10:50 by train from Milano Central Station to Tirano 12:50 - 15:25 by Bernina regional train from Tirano to St. Moritz (cost is15 CHF, supersaver) 17:08... Chur station is the beginning of our beautiful journey. We both settled in to our seats for the approx 4 hour journey to Tirano, just over the Italian border, felt very relaxed and let the train take the strain! The train followed the landscape gently, and gradually, winding up in to the mountains of Switzerland, and then on to Italy,... More

Splurged on first class panorama carriage for trip from Tirano to Chur and did not regret a cent. Definitely deserves world heritage recognition for the sheer beauty & majesty of this region. the train was spotless. Booked online rhb.ch a little difficult but persevered and all went smoothly. The staff at Tirano station were delightful, friendly & helpful. Gorgeous alpine... More

Very clean and comfortable train cars. First class has big picture windows. The pull down window in the luggage area was great for taking pictures. The train goes through some very incredible areas with unbeleviable scenery!

We took the Bernina Express from Tirano in Italy to St Moritz and it was an amazing experience. The scenery was breathtaking. The train took about an hour and a half and was well worth the money. Just a little tip though, if possible, take a packed lunch as some people we spoke to paid 56 euros for a couple... More

This was the most incredible train journey I have ever seen. The weather was bad when we went - it was too snowy even for the Swiss to get a train running! But this did mean we saw some fantastic landscapes. We chose to get off in Poshiavo for a break rather than get the train all the way into... More

The Berrnina Express is a totally amazing way to traverse and see the Swiss Alps, from the comfort of a luxurious panoramic carriage. We took the train as part of a trip to Italy, after it being recommended to us, and to say we regretted taking this train (a longer way round) as part of getting to Venice by train... More
