One of the most spectacular ways to cross the Alps: the Bernina Express...

One of the most spectacular ways to cross the Alps: the Bernina Express from Chur/Davos to Tirano (via St. Moritz) links up regions with different languages and cultures. This is not a rack railway and the train winds its way gently through splendid scenery. One of the highlights is the panoramic journey through the UNESCO World Heritage RhB.

On the highest railway across the Alps, the Bernina Express climbs up to the glistening glaciers before descending to the palms of Italy far below. This rail link between Northern and Southern Europe builds bridges between regions with different languages and cultures.

I visited it from Tirano to Zurich. Timing of train was 1500 hrs but as time passes and sun sets then you can't view scenery. Train is nice having wonderful scenery but i suggest if you want to enjoy full 4 hour journey and scenery then one should come from Zurich to Tirano as i think train comes in the... More

We found this attraction by browsing internet. We decided to take it from Chur to Tirano, Italy. The train cabin has very special design with large and top glass window. The interior was very comfortable. The view along the route was fantastic. This was a great and memorable train trip.

We took the Bernina Express from Tirano to St Moritz. It is a lovely way to see the Alps. The train is very clean and comfortable with large, panoramic windows. We stopped a few times and we were able to get out and take pictures. We were so happy that we added this onto our trip. If you are traveling... More

The trip was really amazing, I took the trip from Tirano to Chur on July. You can see a life in Swiss countryside which is fantastic. The train has wide windows so you can see the view maximally. If I could visit Switzerland again, I would take the train again for sure. It was really an unforgettable trip for me.

Rode the train while on vacation in Milan last April. The train ride is quite enjoyable but: The total time spent from leaving on a bus to returning is 8 hrs and you spend no more than 2 hrs actually on the train. Also the overall enjoyment is largely based on weather. On our trip it was very foggy and... More

After spending a month in Europe, we wrapped up our trip by taking the Bernina from Tirano to Chur and then on to Zurich and home. The train is lovely and comfortable. The ride is slow and the views are spectacular. However, the time had just changed to daylight savings in Europe, so we missed that last 2 hours of... More

This is one train ride that is not ot be missed. We took the Train from St. Moritz to Tirano. This was a beautiful journey through some of the best scenes of Switzerland. The journey reflects the beauty of the Swiss Alps and the countryside. The train itself is very comfortable. The stop at Alp Grum is magic. Of the... More

We boarded in mid-October, and had the entire section of the panoramic train to ourselves. The ride is slow and easy, giving lots of time to take in the breathtaking views, occasionally stopping along the way at particularly beautiful photo spots. We stopped at one point to take photos at a station where snow covered everything in sight. My favorite... More

I am not an enthusiast for railways but this is a spectacular journey. We were fortunate in that the day was clear blue skies & brilliant sunshine and in the early autumn when the trees are turning into their autumn colours and the peaks are snow-capped.

This was such a great train-trip. We went from Tirano to Chur and what a journey it was. From sunny Tirano to the snowy mountain tops through tunnels and across bridges, it was great views from beginning to end! There is a trolley service on-board for hot/cold drinks and snacks, but you can also take your own food/drink on-board. The... More
