We travelled from Brig - Chur fantstic views through the panoramic windows - for best views sit on the right facing the direction of travel. Take your own picnic on the train as the food on board is very expensive. Photography is difficult as you get lots of reflections from the windows.

We took the train from St. Moritz to Zermatt. The overall travel time is about 8 hours and passes by very fast. The scenery with the different mountains, the excellent train system with the many tunnels and bridges are just outstanding. The personnel in the train was very friendly and helpful and the seats were very clean and comfortable. It... More

Its an ok experience. 2 hours into the journey still nothing picture worthy. We were in 25 seats 11 & 12 window seats. That side of the train gets all the sun and all the landscape as well . It was hot inside the train. Pictures are impossible due to the reflection on the window panels. After 2 hours and... More

The Glacier Express truly is a one of a kind experience. I've traveled on many trains throughout Europe and Switzerland but this one takes the cake. Incredible views, and surprisingly impressive food service throughout the trip. I have already made it a goal to take all of my children back here one day. Hopefully each one separately so I can... The panoramic view along the way from Chur to Zermatt is breath-taking. These are tips from my really good experience. Seats The 2nd class train seats are comfortable with decent leg room and a wide table. So no need to waste your money on the 1st class ticket. Make sure you book a window seat (for example seats 11 &... More

The Glacier Express is definitely a great way to take in the Swiss Mountain scenery if you only have a limited amount of time to spend in the mountains, however it is clearly not a substitute for spending a few days in the mountain towns exploring on a more leisurely and in-depth mode.

This is a trip that is somewhat difficult to judge but the bottom line is that it is worth it for the views. I do not think you get exactly the same going with the normal trains. The weather was not so good when we went but good enough to see most of the mountain views. There were a number... More

so, the title of this experience says alot, but i thought i would add some insight to taking this trip. first , we tried to get a 1st class reservation from st moritz to zermatt and could not. we had a choice to go another day or try going in the opposite direction. turns out ,, the opposite direction is... We took the Glacier Express from Brig to Chur on Jun 25. As we had the Swiss pass, our son reserved for us with the extra reservation cost plus ordered us the 3 course meal. As the weather was good, the scenery was very beautiful. My husband's ear phone didn't work, so it was a pity he could not hear... More

We stayed one night in Zermatt to be able to catch the glacier express as far as Chur. We had a Swiss pass so only had to pay to book seats 30 euros each. In the end we decided not to travel on the GE but take the regular train which goes over exactly the same route if you go... More
