We did this trip on 10 Sept, from Zermatt to Fillisur, so probably missed out on the best bit to St Moritz. We were also unfortunate in that the weather was not good with low cloud so did not get the mountain views. We travelled First Class and I would definitely recommend the upgrade as Second class looked a bit... More

Loved the train experience in Switzerland. We took the William Tell, Bernina, and Glacier Express combo ticket and hit the major sites along the way. It is THE way to see this beautiful country. The stay in Zermatt was perfect. Took the train up to the Matterhorn base camp.

We went on this train as part of a Great Rail Journey and it lived up to expectations. The scenery was fab-u-lous as was travelling through tunnels, over via ducts including the iconic Landwasser viaduct and through beautiful scenery.. We had a lovely meal on board with excellent serving staf, which was the icing on the cake. It was wonderful... More

We did the full journey on board the Glacier Express, 1st class from Zermatt to St Moritz. It was all very pleasant and comfortable, the trip lasted just under 8 hours - it does pass surprisingly quickly. We had 2 seats facing each other at one end of the carriage - my husband saw everything as he was facing forwards... More

We read many reviews regarding the Glacier Express before we left. Some said it was a wonderful experience and others said it was overrated. One of the best we saw was to accept the train for what it is. We took the train in August and were glad we did. I'm sure the winter is very different as the white... More

We took it from Zermatt to St. Moritz which took eight hours but the time passed very quickly given the constantly changing but always amazing scenery. There is a never ending procession of mountain peaks, deep valleys and gorges, glacial waterfalls and picturesque alpine towns and each more spectacular than the one before. We traveled in a first class coach... More

Last August, my wife and I took the glacier express using the SwissPass. If you ask me, is it worth enough to spend 7.5 hours in this train? Ok, this travel is absolutely worthwhile. We've started in St. Moritz going to Zermatt. We were lucky enough having a good weather, so, the picture behind the windows of the train was... More

We travelled from Brig to Chur on this very comfortable train. The journey took 4 hours and the views were outstanding so take plenty of batteries for your camera. Lunch is served on the train but we took our own food and drink as the food is served too early for us (12.00) and not cheap. Commentary given on train... More

While the glacier express takes you through the majestic swiss alps as slow as a train can go which allows for maximum picture taking time, there is a cheaper and in my eyes a better alternative. This comes at the catch of 20 minutes more of planning. Instead one can take the EXACT same train route without paying the seat... More

We travelled from Fiesch to Chur in second class. The trip itself is lovely, with good views (are there any bad views in Switzerland?) and an informative commentary available at your seat. But we had ordered the three-course meal and found it very disappointing. Bottled water also cost as much as beer. These are why I have given the rating... More
