We travelled from Zermatt to St Moritz. The most spectacular views for me were the last leg of the trip. On the plus side the views are amazing but it really is a whistle stop tour. It would have been nice to stop in a few places on the way and I would recommend doing this trip in a few... More

The Glacier Express is not called "the slowest express train in the world" for nothing. Our derrières were completely numb by the time we reached Zermatt! But it's a lovely ride, and the views are absolutely spectacular. We ate a delicious lunch on board and washed it down with a nice bottle of champagne. An enjoyable day, and an easy... More

We purchased the Swiss Rail Pass and were able to get a $33 each ticket on the Glacier Express going from Chur to Zermatt. We were not interested in having a heavy lunch since we had dinner reservations in Zermatt so we purchased a sandwhich and water to share. The views are spectacular and we enjoyed the ride. I tried... More

Wow, what a complete waste of money for a terrible experience. We went mostly for me train-obsessed kids, and even they hated it. Ride the regular local train, on the same route, which has big windows that come down for great pictures, and you can walk all around the train. Staff was always up in aisle serving food or rolling... More

We joined the 'Glacier Express' at Brig and spent 4.5 hours on this metre gauge line travelling to Chur where we swapped to the standard gauge and headed for Lucerne. The train was very modern with a level of detail and cleanliness that the British will find unfamiliar but refreshing. A free guide was supplied to each of us together... More

We took the Glacier Express from St. Moritz to Zermatt in July 2015. We took it in first class. The only difference between first class and second class was the quality of the seats and several hundred euros in price. Everything else was exactly the same. We backtracked back to the point of origin on the regular SBB train at... More

We took the Glacier Express from Zermatt to Pontresina. It was a nice relaxing day looking at all the views. The expense is the down side. We decided to splurge for first class because we didn't want to be right next to complete strangers for seven+ hours. The food was good, but again, expensive.

We travelled from Andermatt to Chur as part of a National holidays trip. It takes almost 2 hours incl a stop for 25 mins at Disentis. The first part is over the Oberalp pass with some wonderful views. The later part from Disentis follows the valley side slowly losing height until the trip is completed with a run through the... we had just finished a 7 day hiking trips in the Alps followed by a few days of scenic rides. But this train is just too long and the scenery is not as exciting as you'd imagine after what you can see just in Chamonix taking the cable car up to Aiguille di Midi. 7.5 hours is just too much.... We took all the way from St. Moritz to Zermatt. I believe it's one of the greatest train ride experience all over the world, however most of the highlights are on first half of the way. After we finished the lunch in the middle of that 8 hours journey, we felt a little bored and fell asleep. It was a... More
