Been here several times with family and friends...The falls are quite impressive in any season...Best time however is in Spring/Summer, when you can get on a boat to cross the river and even hike on one of the cliffs in the middle of the flow. For a cheaper price you can choose to enter the Castle at the top of... More

Our family of six (6) adults visited the Rheinfalls in September 2014. We travelled from Munich to Zurich, dropped our language at the hotel and took the train to the Rheinfalls. There are many trains available per hour with one easy change in Schaffhausen, Winterthur or Neuhausen depending on the selected departure. The train stop for the Rheinfalls is “Schloss... More

Something not to miss if you are close to the location. If you go during the low season. your only way to visit both side of the fall is to walk it around 30 minutes or drive for 10 minutes. i advise the walk. the good point of that season is that the fall is yours :)

Well worth a visit, I had no idea about this Place before. Highly recommended for a short visit. I visited off season, so the Place was quite empty and some of the restaurants were closed, which might be even better. Prepare for a 500 meter walk from the car park.

A beautiful place. Views of the castle from the boat below the falls and from the observation deck on the little island in the middle of the falls is wonderful.

We were in Lucerne for four days early November and after spending the first two visiting the mountain peaks, we decided to visit Rhinefalls on our third day. Unfortunately we did not enquire and nor did anyone inform us on how long would it take for us to reach it from lucerne. It took us three train changes and around... More

While visiting Felix Mendelssohn's home in Leipzig, I saw a color sketch done by the composer and was surprised by the sheer beauty of the picture. I was also very curious about this place since I've never heard of this beautiful and huge waterfalls, and yet Mendelssohn visited there in the 19th century already. At that time, it inspired me... We had a lovely day, a warm day in November and it was the perfect plan to visit the Rheinfall! We left from Radolfzell till Schaffhausen, and waiting for S33 . we arrived on the north side and walk and visit and admire the whole landscape. The sun, the colors of autumn and the water made our day perfect !
