Well worth paying 5 euros to get down to the platform and walk over the bridge. Great views, a few cafes and restaurants to grab something to eat or drink.

Went with my boyfriend and it was really nice. The only downside that it is really expensive. They charge for the car park SFR 6.00 and additional SFR 5.00 for one side of the falls to stand really close. You can see everything from the otherside as well and thats for free.
Well worth the trip! We stayed in Schaffhausen and took the local bus to the falls. There was no entrance fee. Took amazing pictures, and took one of the paid boat rides/tours to and from the falls itself (I think there were 4 options). Very refreshing and relaxing, enjoyed every minute of it!
The falls would be beautiful to visit, except for the entrance fee. When I was last there in 2005, there was no fee to see the falls. Since then, they installed an elevator from the schloss (castle) to the falls area below. The fee is not just for the elevator, but also for the walking path to the viewing areas....

When you want to explore Switzerland away from the usual cities or mountain resorts, this is the place to go! The waterfalls are amazing, although they are not that high, the sheer power of the water is mind-blowing. Also, they dug cleverly tunnels in the rock sorrounding the falls, allowing visitors to get really close to the water, at mid-height,...

A definite visit together with the town of Schaffhausen (see seperate review) if you are in Zurich. The train goes from the main station and arriving at the Falls you can hear the thunder as soon as you alight. Once you have purchased your ticket stairs lead down to a platform and cave right under the falls for an even...

The waterfall and its surrounding area were extremely beautiful. There were several shops selling souvenirs and we even saw a shop selling Indian food near the steps leading down towards the river Rhine. We took a boat ride (yellow boat) for 7 euros that took us to an island right in the middle of the waterfall. The huge volume of...

If you are in Nothern Switzerland you must visit this place. The falls of the Rine are situated on a bend of the river that separates the cantons of Schaffhausen and Zürich. What a site! If you like walking go to the Schaffhausen side. There is a nice park and you can admire the best view of the falls. If...

Taking the boat ride to the island at the centre of the Rheinfalls is an absolute must. The thunder and power of the falls is thrilling and frightening. Climb the narrow staircase for amazing photo's. Rejoin the skillfully maneuvered boat for an exciting ride back to shore. Brilliant!
It is said that this fall is nothing compared to the Niagra, but it is the biggest in all of Europe, and a must see. Do take the boat ride to the cliff in middle of the fall, but be careful as the ride is extremely bump and scary. Even the stairs to the top of the cliff are very...
