Nice view

You'll have a very nice view from the top! And if you need a refreshment, there's a café with icecream :).

One does not need a guided tour as long you study some of the information on the history of Neuchatel. Start your trip at the banneret fountain which already gives you an impression of old Neuchatel. Climb up (for older people having a problem with climbing this can be very steep and tiring at times so beware) towards the castle... More

I was exploring the area on my own and hiked up to the Chateau. The view from the top is stunning. The property itself is historic with great history inside and out. The Chateau is still operational.

I think this is a place to see if you are in Neuchâtel : you will appreciate the view over the city, can have a free guided tour in the castle where part of the administration of this state works, and you will enjoy the authentic atmosphere of the castle + cathedral.

We drove right up to the chateau and parked in the paid parking spot. It is enormous, very impressive in size. You can freely walk about in the courtyard and exterior, however, to see the interior rooms, you will need to go with a guide and lasts 45 minutes. The guide speaks English, among other languages offered. When we went,... More

the court is free access and very nice. The tour of the castle is also very interesting, but it is only with guide and there are few tours in the day with rigid hours.

This castle dates back to the 12th century and has several architectural highlights. Today, the Castle is the seat of the canton's government. During summer months, there are free guided tours of the castle April through the end of September in French, English, or German. You may also walk about on your own I recommend a stop at the Tourist... More

The castle offers free guided tours in the castle, in several different languages. You will learn about the history of the city of Neuchâtel and also get to see the room of the Parliament and the Supreme Court that are both located in the castle.

My wife and I visited Neuchatel in June 2013 and spent one night. It is a nice town (albeit buusier and more commercial in the center than I expected) with enough to keep you busy for a day or two. Worth a stop in my opinion. (We were going from Geneva to Basel.) The Chateau was unfortunately closed when we... More

Most of the time the Chateau is closed. You can get a tour, but not often. So if you walk up to hill to see it you will probably only see the outside. However, the view from up there is nice.
