We decided to go Mt Rigi only after we were told the cog up Mt Pilatus was closed during winter. Our second choice was not disappointing at all though! We boarded the 12pm ferry from in front of the Lucerne train station. They sold food on the ferry, but we had brought along our own meal as well. Ferry ride... More

Picturesque must. Cows with bells, Lake Lucerne at the bottom of the mountain. Train Stations in the mist and the cog railway that pulls you up the mountainside on an almost 45 degree angle

People are attracted more towards Mt. Pilatus in Luzern. But Rigi is more than Mt. Pilatus. It gives a very amazing view from the top. We took a 1 hour crusie near the central station which was breathtaking in the luzern lake with a very beautiful scenic views and breeze. Then we landed up in a place from where the... More

Stayed in Zurich a few days at the end of a Rhine River cruise. After reading reviews on this board we decided to do a day trip to Lucerne and visit Mt. Rigi. We were blessed with a Sunny 70 degree day. We got up early and took the train from Zurich to Lucerne ( around a 1 hour ride),... More

I live here in Switzerland and was supposed to go on a group hike one day. I managed to go to the wrong place (thanks to my sat nav). I am so glad I did. I took the cable car up to the spa hotel and walked the rest myself. I felt so calm and relaxed and it was one... More

Mt. Rigi was our second choice after we found it we didn't have time to go to Mt. Pilatus. In the end we were so happy with Mt. Rigi. It is free with Swiss Pass! The The ride up the cog train was great. It just kept climbing higher and higher and we thought we must be at the top,... More

Excellent tourist attraction, however we chose to take the cable car back to the boat area but were extremely disappointed at being packed into a huge lift with about 40+ people. Do not take the cable car you see nothing and you are squashed in

I was sorely upset when we came to know on our arrival at the hotel that Titlis was closed for maintainance. This was our first trip to switzerland and I was looking frwd to visit Titlis the most. We decided to visit Mt Rigi and Mt Pilatas instead in the next two days and weren't disappointed. Of these two, Mt... More

We took the boat fr Luzern to the train station that took us up to the mountain, abt half hour by train but an hour by boat, both had amazing views. Luckily it snowed that morning and the kids got to play n make snow angels. They have a cafeteria up there but food is average.

Great ride up and down the Mountain using the 2 rail routes. A scenic ride by itself. There is also a cable car but it was closed for maintenance during my visit. Nothing much on top though there is a hotel which was also closed during off-peak season. There are more activities during summer and winter months.
