Beautiful church

A beautiful church. Well worth the visit when in Lucerne. Even better view of the church when seen from across the river.

If you enjoy architecture... If you enjoy churches. This is a must. You can spend hours looking at all the details. Well worth a stop to look. You won't see anything like this at home. :)

The Jesuitenkirche is nicely presented and well worth the visit. No entry fee is required and no crowds inside the church. It is however not breathtaking inside as I have seen much more impressive churches around Europe.

For me the Church of Jesus in Lucerne is best viewed from the across the other side of the river Reuss which flows from Lake Lucerne. The reflection of the Church when lit at night is tranquil and beautiful. Inside is marvellous and worth the visit, although I'm not religious in any way, but you have to appreciate the work... Worth a visit. I don't know if cameras were forbidden, but I got several photos. I've seen many of the cathedrals in Europe, and this church competes handily in beauty, if not size.

Standing tall by the river Reus, on the other end of Kapellbrucke, inside the church is just serene and beautiful. And that organ simply enchanting and magical. Even after a while, it was good to just sit there and commune with the place quietly for a change.

This is the first large baroque church built in Switzerland north of the Alps, constructed in the 17th century. Its very ornate interior and the beautiful organ are well worth a visit, and its location smack on the left river bank of the Reuss adds a dramatic effect.

Overall, we were a little underwhelmed by the various churches in Switzerland. This was the exception. It was closed when we first went by. We returned later in the evening and had the pleasure of listening to the organist practice. As we do in all churches, we simply sat and enjoyed the solitude and quietness punctuated by the beauty of... More

It is right by the water and the Kapellbrucke ( Old Chapel Bridge). It is free and worth to go inside.
