If you are looking for the most expensive place in Lucern to 'spend a penny' you have found it. It will cost you CHF2. Aside from that, you can do your grocery shop (always packed), kit yourself out in some average clothes, buy drugs (the legal ones), flowers, pizza, coffee, a watch, booze, a book, a pair of shoes, a... This train station is one of the early designs of the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. If you have studied any of his work you can see the beginning of the explorations of his style on the front facade. The train station consists of three stories. All of the train platforms are on the ground level. The ticket office, luggage storage,... More

Once we got out of the train and looked around, an old couple approached us to assist, as they probably saw that we are tourists and looked lost :) They're SBB staff, and were immediately on hand to help / answer questions. The station is very clean and SBB staff are very accommodating.

The main station is easily accessible by foot, car and buses. It is located near the old town and has all you need when traveling - tourist information, cafes an stores. The layout is easy and even if you're there for the first time, it is really hard to get lost.

The tourist information counter is great and very easy to find the train gate. Plenty of restaurant inside and it is the centre of the public transport in Luzern;

Great station, easy walk to many hotels. I lost a jacket and their lost and found area was very helpful. There are many eateries and shops including a world beer shop that has great unique beers, a must do if you are a beer lover.

The classic train station in Lucerne was a pleasure to arrive at and depart from. It is centrally located and our hotel was a short walk from there. Its beautiful architecture make it a fun place just to go and visit, whether or not you use its efficient rail system. It's not too big or complex so it's very user... More

Trains are always running and while visiting over the holidays this station saved us on many days when all other businesses were closed. Coffee, pastries for snacks, and the Coop grocery store for prepackaged meals and fruit when we didnt feel like paying a lot for meals. Switzerland can be very expensive dining.
