Beautiful lake, transformed by different weather. Lovely to walk around. If you are staying at a hotel, use your travel card to have a short (but free) ferry ride before you consider a tourist excursion. more

In my opinion this is Geneva's "must do" event and is a great way to spend a day if you are in the city. There are a variety of boat rides available; I took one of the longer ones, with stops at numerous towns including Evian and Lausanne with a 2-3 hour layover in Montreux (also worth a stop if... more

The lakeside in Geneva itself is beautiful, but for even more spectacular scenery, take a train around the lake or one of the CGN steamers. There are frequent trains to Lausanne and Montreux from Geneva, and the excellent Swiss railway network also makes it possible to visit many other scenic locations around the lake within a full or half-day.
