What a surprise, this place located in downtown Geneva! We sat near the lake shore and watched kids playing while we relaxed at the view and with the nice breeze. Then we headed for the restaurant, an unpretentious place with good dishes at a reasonable price (for being Geneva). We'll have to come back again!

This place is very special for locals and visiters. In winter.....the self-gathering restaurant is open outside, and you take youre plate inside! In summer, you have to pay 2 francs to come here for eating a meal, swim, have a massage or sauna and take a look at the city and the boats! Great for family's, home-made food is excellent... More

Superb really relaxed and informal place. Quiet unique in the world. Nice fondue. Place is very informal - self service e.g. - but food is nice, particularly the fondue in the winter.

Bains des paquis is a great place.Definately go there! Either you want only to relax, or to have cheap meals oe snacks, grab a beer or a wine! In the winter enjoy the great fondue, in the summer enjoy the lake and the views of the city!

I am not a great fan of this place. Too many voyeurs in this small beach, packed during the summer. It is worth a visit when in Geneva but I don't recommend it for sunbathing.

On a work trip to GVA, where my wife lived for several years, she suggested we take breakfast at Bains des Paquis. The venue is on the lake and is co-operative owned. It has a Turkish bath/sauna but also, there is a cafe/restaurant on one side of it. For an unbelievably good price in a city of exorbitant prices, CHF10... More

Be prepared. The "bains" are a series of hammams, saunas and Turkish baths, with the cooling-off provided by the frigid lake. No bathing suit required, towels can be rented. Accompanied by a fondue made with sparkling wine, washed down with the local white. This is not one of the Geneva experiences targeted at the well-heeled (and the facilities are correspondingly... Loved its settings, even though it was cold, wet and sleeting. The restaurent was energetic, great fondue, cold beer and warm inside. Very jovial spirited waitrons. Hard to find in the dark though.
