The collection of this museum main focus on China and Japan. If you have visited the National Palace Museum in Taiwan, you won't be impressed with this museum.

This is the most wonderful collection of Chinese porcelain in a beautiful house in les Tranches area of Geneva. One of our favourite museums.

Museum wise, Geneva offers little of international interest. The Musee Baur is an exception. Its Chinese and Japanese collections, beautifully displayed in an elegant 19th century mansion, are world class. Worth visiting again and again.

Whether or not Far-Eastern art is your special interest, you cannot fail to appreciate the beauty and craftspersonship of the artefacts on display in this museum, the fruits of a fastidious collector, Alfred Baur. Originally a German-Swiss, he made a fortune in Colombo (Sri Lanka), and then created a foundation to allow the wonderful objects that he was able to... More

I would recommend this museum. I went with the idea in my mind that i would be thoroughly bored but i was nearby (it's near to the Russian church and the musee modern) and thought i'd give it a go. The pieces were extremely well presented and printed descriptions all the pieces in each room are available in French, English... More

The Baur is focused on Chinese and Japanese ceramics and some paintings or prints. Within that scope it has quite a lot of quite lovely pieces, well worth a few hours of study.

This museum was very well maintained and organised... Descriptions were available in both English and French. They have a huge collection of Chinese porcelain, and a reasonable collection of Japanese porcelain, Japanese katanas, a samurai suit, tea ceremony artifacts. I spent over 3 hours at the museum (for 14 rooms, remember that number as the whole time I was unsure... More

This museum is the best one to show us Chinese and Japanese art (especially porcelain ware) in Europe. The China ware shown this museum cannot be seen in Beijing!

Located in one of the best place in Geneva, and housed in a beautiful house, the Baur Museum is showing great Asian pieces. Not only the pieces are very unique, but the way they are being displayed makes touring this museum a very enjoyable experience: not to be missed by whoever likes art!

The museum is very near to " l' Eglisse Russe" . It is an old building, very well maintained and organised. For me it was the best museum I have seen in Geneva. Permanent collections are from Japan (a very impressive samurai uniform, swords, pipe boxes, writing tools etc) and China (porcelain). The presentation is impeccable, minimal style, clean, discreet... More
