Free with Swiss pass. Amazing collection. Huge amount of things to see. The temporary exhibit was poorly labeled but the rest of the museum was really good. The place was almost empty which is too bad since it is a great museum. highly recommend!!

This museum has always been a bit of a mystery to me. It has the most wonderful collection, but seems to want to hide! We visit this museum every time we go to Geneva and love seeing the pictures and sculptures that have become like old friends. And each time we wonder why the facilities are so under-developed - what... More

On a Wednesday morning me and my family decided to visit the biggest museum in Geneva. The museum of Art and History. We were welcomed warmly by a young lady at the entrance who told us photos are allowed to take as we moved to the upper floors the staff kept on following us. We tried to take some photos... More

We visited this museum today and were amazed by the extent of its very varied collection, ranging from Etruscan, Roman, and Savoyard acheology to the Impressionists and Post-Impressions in painting. Of course, Swiss painting of the 19th and 20th centuries is especially well represented, and worth discovering. There is currently (summer 2014) a temporary Rodin exhibit that is definitely worth... I see some reviewers that criticize the museum are comparing it to other museums in Europe. As I've either not been to other museums in Europe or can't remember what they were like anymore, I don't have anything to compare to, so that's something you have to consider before reading the rest of this review. I think the museum was... More

The Geneva Museum of Art and History is housed in a fine neoclassical building about 1 km south west of the famous landmark Jet d"Eau. As many reviewers have already commented, the collection is not as rich as one would have hoped and the staff are somewhat aloof. However it is not completely unexpected if you think about how great... More

As this was one of the few art galleries open on a Monday, we went!! Very glad we did as it contains paintings of our favourite Impressionist artists - Monet, Cezanne and others - and we were the only ones there!! Also local artists of course plus sculpture , industrial arts and the full gamit of a large gallery.

A lovely museum so much to see and take in well worth a visit. Our guide said it opened at 10 am but seems now to open at 11 am may be just a weekends. A very difficult place to find my advice go through the Old Town and the you need to take the steps down to road level... More

Great museum to visit in Geneva, beautiful paintings including Picasso. Several pieces from archeological digs around lake Geneva. Ancient Egyptian small collection, some ceramics and other modern pieces. Th most famous piece is the statue of Rodin - le penseur. A great courtyard and restaurant with magnificent food à lá carte.
