A must see in Geneva

Beautiful museum with wonderful permanent and temporary exhibits. Very easy to get too and local transportation stops right in front.

This museum offers an interesting collection of Western European, with an emphasis on Swiss, art from XIII century onwards, which contains 2 Van Goghs and several Monets, Renoirs and Picasso. It is well worth a visit.

Overall it's a good to above average museum for it's type. Allow yourself 1-1/2 to 2 or more hours for your visit. Nothing special, but nothing to walk away from. Just stroll and enjoy the presentations afforded.

This is a pretty good museum. It's no Louvre of British Museum, but it's got a decent collection of mainly late medieval and early modern (reformation) era material. The ground floor in particular has a solid collection of Roman material if not overwhelming, and some ancient collections going back to settlements in the bronze and iron ages, though not heaps.... There is not much you can get for free in Geneva. This museum is free and the staff welcoming and helpful. It is a must when visiting Geneva - excellent history museum and Art Gallery. When they have private exhibitions - there is a charge - but only if you want to visit.

This is a nice museum in the middle of town. There are better museums in Geneva, but some of the soecial exhibits are pretty good.

This museum has a fabulous assortment of things from medieval armoury through to paintings by many of the top artists including Monet and others too numerous to list. There are some extraordinary artifacts from ancient Egypt, Rome and Greece.

I visited the museum solely for the paintings. Not many outstanding pieces, yet the collection is a nice introduction to classical paintings for the novices and a lovely chance to discover new paintings for a museum geek as myself. Seeing all this for free makes it even better.
