This museum is located in a fine building in the heart of town and offers several floors of exhibits. It felt a bit maze-like to us, and it was not easy to find our way to the parts we wanted to visit, map or not. Thank goodness there was an elevator, because we tired ourselves going up and down all... More

This is a beautiful building and has something for every art enthusiast. In the old town Geneva. Lots of staircases...not sure there is an elevator.

Stopped here on a whim - just happened to pass by it en route to another site. We discovered they were having a temporary exhibit with Rodin's works, including The Thinker and The Accident. The main part of the museum contains Applied Arts on Level 1, Fine Arts on Level 2, Archeology on Level -1 and Regional Archeology on Level... More

The best thing about this museum is it's free (regular collections) in a city where prices to see art are outrageous. For me it's greatest downfall is lack of signage in any other languages other than French; this in a city that considers itself as very international. You are on your own unless you get the audio guide which isn't... More

Well located, free entrance for the regular collection. Beautiful collection of Swiss paintings and Europeans (Fernand Holder)... Superb local collection of weapons and armories from the 1600's...

I wish I had had more time in this museum, but the Impressionist rooms were absolutely must sees - and it's free!

Free with Swiss pass. Amazing collection. Huge amount of things to see. The temporary exhibit was poorly labeled but the rest of the museum was really good. The place was almost empty which is too bad since it is a great museum. highly recommend!!

This museum has always been a bit of a mystery to me. It has the most wonderful collection, but seems to want to hide! We visit this museum every time we go to Geneva and love seeing the pictures and sculptures that have become like old friends. And each time we wonder why the facilities are so under-developed - what... More

On a Wednesday morning me and my family decided to visit the biggest museum in Geneva. The museum of Art and History. We were welcomed warmly by a young lady at the entrance who told us photos are allowed to take as we moved to the upper floors the staff kept on following us. We tried to take some photos... More

We visited this museum today and were amazed by the extent of its very varied collection, ranging from Etruscan, Roman, and Savoyard acheology to the Impressionists and Post-Impressions in painting. Of course, Swiss painting of the 19th and 20th centuries is especially well represented, and worth discovering. There is currently (summer 2014) a temporary Rodin exhibit that is definitely worth...
