Not just the boat ride, but the stops you can do along the way

Two stops worth considering: Oberhofen, a small castle on the north side of the lake just before Thun, and Fallensee, just before Spietz on the south shore. We got off at Fallensee to stretch our legs on a short lake-side walking trail - a mile at most-- to Spietz. It was just gorgeous. A flat, easy hike with a lot... More

We went in this boat from Thun to Interlaken. It was a glorious trip! The 'boat' is huge and therefore very stable - no seasickness!!! The scenery was just breathtaking. You can get on and off as you choose and there are many stops worth a visit. If you are traveling from outside Europe, consider purchasing a Swisspass as all... More

Nice boat ride. Staff not so friendly. You can eat in the boat but not many options. The views are brilliant.

This was my second time taking the cruise, and it was just as enjoyable the second time!! The scenery on a clear, sunny day is breathtaking! If you have a Swiss Pass it is included, and if you have first class, you can sit on the top deck and enjoy the sun. Very enjoyable way to see all the little... More

After a day in the mountains, we chose to ride the boat from Interlaken to Spiez instead of the train. It was a beautiful day and you stop at several little villages along the lake. It was very relaxing (don't be in a hurry!) and had beautiful scenery.

Just hop on a paddle steamer between Thun and Interlaken or on any lake in Switzerland. Relax and have a snack on board and admire the view... Best to see and experience the lakes of Switzerland.

Originally, we planned to stick to mountains, but due to cloudy weather and light drizzle, we decided on the boat trips. We chose to do the Brienz portion only, but after the Brienz boat ride, we decided to take a break from walking and hiking and continue the boat rides by trying a shortened Thunersee ride from Spiez to Interlaken.... Most enjoyable going from Thun at one end of the lake to Interlaken at the other. Plus the opportunity to take the boat on the other lake from Interlaken to Brienz. But choose a sunny day!!

We boarded at Linterlaken West and spent a couple of hours gently criss-crossing the lake between various staging posts before arriving at Thun. The weather was pleasant, so go outdoors where possible as there are plenty of seats and good views. Waterfalls, chalets, chateaux, marinas, etc all to be enjoyed at a gentle pace.
