You will find a very beautiful town walking along. Take a ride in the night. It is very quiet and nice. Take a view to Aare river or even a swimming time!. Streets in Bern are absolutely beautiful, its buildings are too. Don't miss the view from the Bern Minster, it is really fantastic!!!.

I was not expecting a lot based on some of the reviews I have read here. Bern was a delightful surprise. Easy to walk around, safe and amazing historical buildings. People are very friendly and most speak English, German and many French.

Bern town centre is pleasant to stroll around with cobbled streets and miles of arcades (in the old sense of the word - i.e. covering the pavements each side of the road). Lotss of shops, bars, restaurants. And old buildings or landmarks (notably the Zytglogge clock tower and the quaint fountain statues. Plus bridges over the river offering splendid views,... More

Nice views, nice walk on some old streets with old building all around. Don't miss to get on the old bridge.

The old town made for alovely wander, even though we visited on a baking hot day. With a a combination of clocks, covered walk ways, squares and fountains (although the one of the man eating babies is weird if not disturbing!), it is a very pretty place. Also standing on the high bridges and watching the people jump off lower... More

I have fallen in love with Bern, an enchanting, historical and magic old town with friendly people, wonderful shops etc but I must mention, very expensive.

Ripped apart, changed, and with about as much charm as could be expected from the efforts of a Group of Civil Architechts, Bern could be so much more, and yet, the attraction of the Centuries has been made Civil Servant Grey. Expect little, and be pleasantly surprised if it pleases you.

nice and clean area with lots of shops and restaurants. can't remember what day it is but there is an open market during the afternoon which is nice to walk through. great area to see and walk around - even on a rainy day as most walkways are covered.

I have been living in Switzerland for 5 months now (just on a short stay for work) and may have enjoyed Bern the best so far, from a tourist perspective. The Old Town is truly massive - goes on and on with so many amazing statues, fountains, plazas, etc. And it is so walkable - I learned today that it... More

We could not find a walking tour in English so the tourist office (by the station) suggested an ipod that they rented. It has 2 possible tours on it. This was an excellent idea, we could go at our own pace, stop for coffee, re-listen to sections etc. It was a really hot day so we were happy to take... More
