I really enjoyed my trip to Bern during the Christmas markets period. The city is small but really cosmopolitan! You can hear people speaking several languages and the street stalls sell amazing food. A stroll down the main the street up to the river is strongly recommended to take breathtaking pictures!

We spent a few hours in Bern on our way from Geneva to Murren. We parked the car at the train station. The main draw for us was that Einstein used to live here. The old town was small and compacted. It only took couple of hours to walk around all interesting area. People were friendly and helpful. We took... More

We were travelling to Bern after Basel and were quite disappointed with old Bern. There is not too much to see except for clock tower and bears... There were crowds of Russian and Chinese tourists (in large groups) at every attraction, so it was hard to focus on sightseeing. On the positive side there are nice green parks everywhere, especially... More

The old town is a wonderful place. It is preserved so well that it is more or less looking like during the medieval time. A must visit for tourists.

We came here as a day trip from Geneva and are quite glad we did. We enjoyed the shops and historic feel to the city. The river is clean and beautiful. We will go back again.

We enjoyed the beautiful views over the Aare River and found it very interesting walking under the covered arcades. In a world where goods are increasingly global brands, it is refreshing to see so many creative shops producing locally crafted goods. The old town is also loaded with bits of history like the Rathaus, the Munster Church, the Zytglogge and... More

A lovely city with friendly and nice locals. So safe. Easy to navigate. The history and architecture is amazing. The pyramid and busses are way to use. There is a self guided walking tour that is very nice amd allows for an easy discovery of the city's hidden treasures. $$$$ bring your wallet

Had the opportunity to spend an afternoon in old town Bern. It is a beautiful old city! At one end of the town was a market...at the other end of the town on a hillside by the river was an enclosure with brown bears! In between was rows of beautiful old buildings. Among the old buildings was the Einstein House... More

We rode up & down the Aare River from Belp to Worblaufen. Awesome! There are animal exhibits along the trail. It's just too bad a city named after bears killed the Dahlholzli zoo's bear cub because its father was violent. I can't BEAR that.
