It was a good place to go in Bern. It was very peaceful with very few people around and you can get good pictures there.

Old Bern is filled with stores and cafés. There is a beautiful park by the church overlooking the river. Don't miss the walk to the Bear park and also going down to the river. This river flows fast but is quite beautiful. You can dip you feet and relax by the river.

You can see the city very quickly. It is more geared for shopping. Has nice and good restaurants. Besides the casino, very few nightlife.

Was pleasantly surprised when visiting Bern. Lots of interesting buildings/clocks and a fountain on just about every street!. There are loads of shops tucked away. You can also get on various trams and travel around, but be warned they are quite quiet so go careful when crossing the roads! There is also a clock in the centre that has animated... More

We visited Bern in July and we had a wonderful day walking through the old town. We found that it was easy to walk through in wet or dry conditions as the sidewalks were all under cover. The architecture is wonderful and the clock towers and fountains are all fascinating . We went to the bear enclosure and found it... More

Nice place to walk by. Very calm place and best to enjoy in a cloudy but cool weather. Visited in 2008.

Gorgeous part of Bern. Romantic, historic and beautiful to walk around. Loads of shops, bars and restaurants to stop off at along the way. Runs right along the river too which is an added bonus!

I loved the underground cellars use nowadays as shops or cafes. the walk is very romantic and colorful. a large choice of cafes, little shops. This is the heart of Bern leading to the Bears enclosure

Beautifull old town, much to see, much to do! Even tho the weather was not so good I loved to stroll around and have a bit of Bernish culture! I would recommend going to see the clock (its in the main street), bearpark, the big church and Einstein's house.

Get a map of the Old Town from the tourist office. It will mark all the attractions like the big clock tower, old cathedral, many many fountains and sculptures. All within walking distance, and if you are visiting, your hotel will probably provide complimentary public tram/bus pass. Take the tram/bus, it will save you lots of time and less walking... More
