Waking though medieval streets

Probably the best city (centre) I've walk though. Amazing old buildings and pavements. Pretty fountains and statues with old chapels, town hall and shops.

Awesome place to walk around. You can really see the beautiful fountains and walk those stone streets. You can continue until you reach the bridge and you can go down to the riverside.

Again, a day trip for us from our base in Zurich. Beautifully appointed, with fabulous historic buildings, great food & good boutique shopping.

Just before getting our of the train you can realise how beautiful is the old town of Bern. Full of historic monuments, everything is incredibly well preserved. The medieval streets, the old arcades and the renaissance allegorical statues in the fountains are an icon. You can find different type of shops - antique, tipical food (hot chocolate), modern art, cuckoo... More

Walking around Old Town was lovely, but walking next to the river at dusk was magical. Expensive town in general, and when they say things are closed on Sunday they mean EVERYTHING is closed on Sunday (besides the train station shops). The smaller local shops are quite beautiful, and many cafés to choose from. Slow paced exploring is best served... More

Took a side trip to walk around a small section of Bern on our way to Montreux. It's an interesting city with cobblestone streets. A beautiful church 15 minutes from the station is worth looking into. The people are not as rushed as in Zurich. More of a tourist town.

Yes, for some reason this great spot on earth is cultural heritage and so it is worth a visit while you are in Switzerland. Not many towns visited with this kind of old town, so well preserved (lucky Swiss people, no big wars during the last xhundred years) and still so lively. This is not "ABC" (another big city) where... More

There isn't a place better than the Old Town of Bern. From history, shopping, food and sights you'll get everything here. Do a free walk with them to explore the region completely.

Walking in the streets of Bern was really enjoyable. It was like going back to a place hundreds years ago. It was good that the city was well protected. The fountains and clock towers were wonderful. The view from the mountain seeing the whole old town was amazing.
