The bear park is cool because of it's ties to the history of the town but that's about it. It's a basic best exhibit and nothing too special. It's worth going to but we didn't spend more than 10 minutes there.

Nice enclosure, slight shame you cant get closer but the bears seem happy and a great spot to grab lunch and is near to quite a few other sights and museums.

When I lived in London there was an old myth that if the Ravens ever left the Tower of London then London would collapse. There is a similar story about the bears in Bern. The story starts with the fact that the founder of the city said that he would name it after the first animal he caught in the... More

We stopped here with our kids for a short visit on our drive through Bern. We all enjoyed the visit. I had visited here 20+ years ago before the park had been expanded - they've really made it look nice, and comfortable for the bears. -- We drove our car and were able to park on the bridge close to... The legend of Bern, its name, and the resident bears is both unusual and fascinating. The only objection I have is that the space available to the bears is rather small, considering 3 of them must live together. The construction of the park in addition to the traditional "pit" has no doubt improved this beyond measure, but in my view... More

There were two bears that were out grazing in the grass. It looked like a male and a female. It was enjoyable watching them forage for the roots in the ground around their enclousure.

If you are visiting in winter, don't be disappointed as the bears are in hibernation now. In summer, you will see them roaming around their large enclosure and - on a hot day - having a dip in the water. In winter, you can go see the "Bern Show" (access through entry to Restaurant Tramdepot), which is a cosy indoor... More

Boycott this place. Keeping wild animals in captivity cruelty. Enjoy the medieval architecture and the beautiful sight from the Rosengarten instead.
