Never understood what's so special about this building - except for the fact that trams and busses drive through it.

I overlooked this tower but spotted it when we went on a free walking tour here. I believe a bear (not a real one), is locked up in this tower before a festival. So if you see a large lock on this tower the bear is sleeping getting ready for the party.

This building was probably more exciting when it really was a Prison Tower. Nowadays, it is just a typical State run building with shiny wooden floors and no trace of its original purpose. Though beware, you will have gird your loins because this Tower has no Lift, but an awful lot of Stone steps that rise vertically through the whole... More

While strolling through the old town and visiting the bear cave, the clock tower and prison tower is a nice historical attraction.

Perhaps it's impressive to contemplate how old the tower is, but it certainly underwhelming. This tower, together with the famed clock tower, left us doubting our decision to spend a night in Bern during our 12-day Swiss vacation.

The Prison Tower is found in the heart of the old town of Bern. The atmosphere surrounding it is quite spectacular - there are numerous kiosks selling confectionary and articles - I was able to find one that sold me a small bottle of cognac! Worth visiting as part of your tour of Bern. Not sure if one is allowed... More

Go and have a guided tour to the Tower and get Explanation about the clockwork. If you have climbed all stairs !!!!!!! beware they are steep --- you will be rewarded by a beautiful sight over the old City and roofs of Berne, specially nice at night.

It's usual but one of the landmark of Old Bern, good option for a historical travel. There are a couple of souvenier shops here at the Prison Tower and all points Bern leave from this location
