The Prison Tower is found in the heart of the old town of Bern. The atmosphere surrounding it is quite spectacular - there are numerous kiosks selling confectionary and articles - I was able to find one that sold me a small bottle of cognac! Worth visiting as part of your tour of Bern. Not sure if one is allowed... More

Go and have a guided tour to the Tower and get Explanation about the clockwork. If you have climbed all stairs !!!!!!! beware they are steep --- you will be rewarded by a beautiful sight over the old City and roofs of Berne, specially nice at night.

It's usual but one of the landmark of Old Bern, good option for a historical travel. There are a couple of souvenier shops here at the Prison Tower and all points Bern leave from this location

Like many towers of its age . But pleasant to look at, and tick off as one of the sites and landmarks of Old Bern.

Nothing special, but it's worth taking a look at as you wander around old town Bern. The clock tower just down the street is more impressive.

Located in the heart of Bern's oldtown and at the crossroads of pedestrian zones and streetcars is the Kafigturm, or prison tower. Originally built around 1259 as the main gate of the second city wall, the tower served its purpose as a prison. There are several displays in and around the prison tower explaining political actions and events, history of... More

While the structure is pretty, there is really no public access except to walk through the arch. You will see it when you explore Old Town.

Maybe it's a lack of information about it's history but I didn't find this particularly exciting. Nice to see and check of the list.

Well, if there is a beautiful prision, this one is it. It does not look like a prision at all. In Bern, even the prision is beautiful.
