Gurten is the place to go, while visiting the city. Ask for activities at the tourist board at the train station. You can go up with a train or walk up to the top. There is a big Migros Self Service Restaurant and a Restaurant in a wonderful Belle Epoque Mansion. You will get a great view over the city,... More

It is a perfect place for an outdoor activities. You can cycle, jogging, walk there. You can have a great picnic there when is a nice and sunny day. Take a cog railway up to the hill. It is a 5 minutes ride. There is a beautiful panorama up there. Great for families with kids. Highly recommend it.

Gurten is one of the best places to visit in Bern. Long stretches of manicured grass. Superb view of the frozen Alps. Can spend full day here without getting bored. Go up via a cog wheel train

I really loved the views all the way to the top, it was an easy walk and the best views of Bern. There is a restaurant and a cafe with excelent desserts. You can play sports in there huge field or you can make a fire and have a BBQ, there are fireplaces. Also a good place for biking.

Takes you up to see all of Been. There's some big green fields up there that looks nice. Good for kids also there are some activities. You'll also get mountain bikers joining you as they have a trail that starts up top.

Only for a clear day and if you have a spare few hours, I was in Bern for a week so a break from the city - take the tram 9 from the Bern Bahnhof in the city to Gurtenbahn stop , your hotel travel pass will cover this and the funicular up. You do not need to use the... More
