Had to book to get into a tour of the clock tower which was really interesting (did this at the train station) - historical information and types of times/charts explained - plus views from the tower.

The clock tower is one of the most easily recognizing and famous buildings in Bern. It is located at the end of the main street. The tourists usually started to gather within 10 min before the hours. All sort of interesting things begin to happen 5 minutes before the hour. It is worth spend 10-15 minutes to watch the biggest... More

Awesome, there are all kid of stuff popping around of the clock but the clock is Late! Really weird since we are in Switzerland, the land of clocks known by its accuracy. It is three minutes late. The biggest show is in 12:03.

It was not working properly when we visited. We heard they were repairing it and it would be functional again. The face of the clock and history was very interesting.

I agree you can't go to Bern without walking in the streets of old town and see the famous Clock Tower. Very beautiful and swiss typical.

You can't go to Berne without walking around the old town and you can't walk around the old town without seeing the Clock Tower! It's beautiful and worth getting there before it strikes the hour because the little characters dance 4 minutes before.

This was a good rainy day option in Bern - they run tours of the tower each afternoon for a little over an hour. You can reserve online (or at the tourist office), then buy tickets directly from the tour guide right before the tour begins. Our guide was very knowledgable - she would explain in German then again in... More

Grab a gouffre with chocolate at one of the street stalls and make sure you arrive at least 10 minutes before the turning of the hour to enjoy a unique picture/video opportunity! What a unique attraction!

Complex, pristine and quiet old. What is most amazing about the clock tower is how low it stands. Unlike Big Ben or other old city clock towers, this one is short and big in proportions. You can see the dial from afar. Worth timing your visit before the top of the hour to experience the show.

One of the oldest buildings in Bern. Nicely decorated. Not very special. Nice location in old town Bern. Close to marketplace, main train station, and Einstein house.
