Just walking through the city, we came upon the museum. It was fabulous... an incredible special exhibit as well as the clocks, toys, porcelain, furniture, etc. This provided a fun few hours. Adults 10 fr.

The receptionist was lovely , apologizing for lack of English brochures and explanations. Another staff member upstairs insisted on telling me the details to watch for throughout the house and explained that as in most swiss museums, i could leave and revisit the same day , if i kept my ticket. dosnt look that impressive from the outside but once your inside the house ( theres a fee but very much worth it) there are many rooms and floors to discover, it was better than most stately homes ive visited. dont forget the cellar too as its not marked in english. expect to be in there for atleast 2 hours, probably... This is a great alternative to art museums which are everywhere in Europe. Fabulous collections of watches, clocks, porcelain, furniture, and dollhouses. Excellent value for the $10 chf entry. Entrance to the museum is free during the last hour of operation to see the permanent collections. This museum I expected to be a small period home, I was very wrong! There were a number of rooms set up to look the way a Baseler would have had them hundreds of years ago, but there were also many collections from everything from paintings to clocks to tin soldiers!
