What a lovely little gem near the Spalentor Gate. Admission is free and there are interesting greenhouses and outdoor gardens. We saw in February, and some flowers were just appearing. We look forward to seeing it in April, fully a-bloom.

Visited this place whilst walking back to the hotel spalentor. This garden is just a stones throw away. Great gardens and greenhouses with a wide variety of plants/flowers/trees. And it's free

I visited here with my 11 year old. It is very close to a tram stop and the city centre. We stumbled on the garden by accident and had an interesting half an hour walking around.

Handily located right next to the Spalentor, they're easy to find. We enjoyed looking around the glasshouses. Beware that although in summer months the gardens are open until 6pm, the glasshouses except the Victoria-Haus close at 5pm. Great free attraction.

As a serious botanical garden visitor, I had high expectations for these gardens based on other travelers' reviews. Needless to say, I was disappointed. Parts of the grounds were not open. Other parts seemed to need attention. I was there on Saturday morning (it was open), but the experience was not fulfilling.

When you walk in the first door, be sure to check out the catepillar exhibit if it is still there. I spent a few minutes just watching how much these citters could eat in very little time. Once you walk into the main greenhouse the humidity hits you right in the face, but you'll forget about that once you see... More

This free garden is in the heart of Basel and the green house is the perfect place to warm up on a cold day! There are tropical birds flying free and the orchids in flower are displayed in the foyer where you must smell them and enjoy their exotic perfumes. There are also excellent displays of plants from across the... More

Botanischer Garten der Universität is near (almost next to the old city) and we can relax with the tropical trees in the warm greenhouse.

The gardens were opposite our hotel so I popped in one sunny afternoon for a visit. The hot-house was a real treat, with small tropical birds calling out and swooping between the lush greenery. There are glass houses filled with cactii and another devoted to water-loving plants, with little fish and small reptiles. The gardens are quite small but are... More
