The Basler Münster is a fantastic example of Romanesque and Gothic styles of architecture, and it's red sandstone walls hold a wealth of history. You can roam through the main church free-of-charge and you should take time to look up at the wonderful stained glass windows. You can also venture down to the crypt, where you can see the remains... More

Basel zoo is a perfectly fine city zoo. The enclosure design is good and there are plenty of good sight lines to the animals. Although we had a good time we just didn't feel there was anything exceptional that justifies how this zoo gets in to many top ten zoos of the world (or Europe) lists.

This is definitely worth a visit. The Munster itself is impressive from a distance and inside is quite majestically. I also loved the area around the church, it was well preserved/regenerated and a perfect opportunity for those typically Swiss pictures.

Originally a Catholic cathedral and today a Reformed Protestant church, the Basler Münster is extremely beautiful both outside and inside. The colors of the façades, the two towers named after St. George and St. Martin, the main porch and the enormous organ, can leave the visitor astonished. In 1529 all religious images were removed from the cathedral and the building... More

The main cathedral of Basel. Dating from Middle Ages. Its about 300 steps to climb up the towers. From the left one the view is better on the historical old town as well as the river. Great Place!

You MUST pay the small fee to climb to the top of the Tower. An excellent experience and a remarkable view.

My 16 year old son and I climbed to the top of the tower to get a great view of Basel. I climbed to the top of a cathedral in Heidelberg, Germany not long ago and this was similar and just as spectacular. My son loved it and was glad I was brave and did it with him! It was... More

After you've seen the magnificent interior, venture around the side in the cloister to experience the many tombs and sculptures. The exhibit is changed out every so often. The one we say was from June 5 until September 25. Lots of history here. The view is spectacular from the rear of the grounds. There is a fee if you wish... More

The Basler Munster is an amazing building. It went through renovation recently and it is free to visit unless you want to climb the tower. I didn't climb it because the view you have from the backyard of this cathedral is already wonderful. You can see the Rhein river and the other side of the city. Besides if you are... More

Great location with garden to sit out and look over the river and much of Basel. Lots of old tombs and a tower to climb (we didn't). There is a rheinfahren stop at the bottom of the garden. Free entrance unless you climb the tower.
