At the Basel paper museum, kids will explore how paper used to be made when there were no big machines like the ones used nowadays. You will also get a chance to make your own paper. After the paper is formed and dried, you get to use stamps to print out a message. And you can buy old fancy writing... More

I have to say, my wife and I had a nsg reaction to this museum--and she used to be a printer and work in the textbook business! That's right, at the college she attended they had a printing press and she ran it, and then right after college she got a job at a printer. And right after that, she... More

Oh my goodness, this place was absolutely wonderful! I definitely recommend to anyone who's going to Basel or near Basel - it's worth the entrance fee, and it was so much fun! Educational and a hands-on museum, we were given the opportunities to make paper, stamp stuff, try out calligraphy, and more! :)

I like education museums but get easily bored, this was great as I got to make some fresh paper, in the form of a passport cover, then went round and made some other things. The most interesting floor by far is the ground floor with the paper, so if you are budgeting your time give about half for that -... More

There are one workshop on each floor and they are all included in the admission! The museum is quite detailed in the history of paper making, writing, printing and book making. You'll get a clear idea of how all these developed after a visit. Worth a visit!!

Unfortunately we visited on a Saturday morning, the actual museum was closed for a function, but was open at 1pm, so we only saw the outside. With its working mill wheel and the water being channeled into the Rhine there were lots of areas to look at outside which I would anticipate both adults and children would be fascinated by.... Visited this museum a year ago but still feel compelled to write a review for it, such was the enjoyment of my visit. You start out with the history of paper-making with influences from ancient Egypt and China, including what used to pass as a toilet paper before its marvellous invention. You can also see a demonstration of traditional paper-making... More

For you to get excited about this place, you gotta be obssessed with everything about paper. It allows you a hands-on experience about the old ways of making paper, producing your own paper you can bring home. the mill is run by a water wheel which makes the place quite quaint. Don't get me wrong. My wife particularly enjoyed walking... More

Much for kids aged 7 - 13 to see, do and experience. Wheelchair access, cafe next door, good for a 2 hour visit. Would not recommend it for kids who like to quickly go through places or who get quickly bored. A tad out of the way (but not much), good 10 minute walk from public transport.
