Had a good time visiting the museum. Learned a lot about how paper is made and printing. Would definitely recommend to all ages.

At first I was very reluctant in going to this museum as I thought 'how can a museum about paper be interesting?' Well, the museum is well-worth the visit and it is not only about paper but the printing process as well. I also found fun to make my own paper and to seal a letter with wax. This place... More

Do not miss this Papermill Museum in Basel. This will be one of the highlights of your trip. The way they made paper in the olden days is quite remarkable. You also have the chance to make a piece of your own paper. Only takes about an hour to tour the museum, and then you can also have lunch at... More

Exacltly the kind of historical museum i like most. It explains the basics of the making of paper & i learned a lot. then, from the basics principples, we go to more and more advanced technologies. Bonus added: on printing, making book, languages. A gem.

We took a private tour of the museum and it was well worth the money. Our tour guide, Bea, was amazing! She made the process of history throughout the ages come alive with her enthusiasm and knowledge. We made our own paper, used two very old stamp machines, a typewriter, and could write in calligraphy (which is also possible without... More

Loved this place. We made our own paper, wrote with quills, and enjoyed learning about paper making history. As an artist I was glad to participate, and it would be really worthwhile for kids.

Loved this place. I have made paper with children, and this was an opportunity for me to learn about the history of paper-making and the different methods used. We saw cotton rags being pounded by giant heavy hammers, to break down the fibers; we saw denim clothing being collected to go through the same process, and we were able to... More

Had a reservation or two about a paper museum, but we had Basel cards and this was one of the attractions covered, really pleased we went. It is very interactive, so you can make your own piece of paper from scratch, write with quills, do some printing and so on. Fascinating displays and films and some of the old equipment... More

Amazing museum with LOADS to see - and do! We made our own paper using some of the traditional techniques and equipment. A must if you're in Basel.
