Go at night - it's creepy!

So in short, this looks great and the internal has some stunning artwork. But it seems it's kept open at night time so go in when it's dark as well...it's very very creepy.

What an exterior! It makes the Marktplatz come alive. I don't know whether tours are available but the parts you can see from walking around the entrance area and exterior are not to be missed

It easy to get to as a number of trams stop right out front and you really can't miss it. I visited the outside only and under the arches and there seems to be lack of English signs. I didn't know how to visit the inside, so I should have done my research before going there. Still it is a... More

I visited the place on the weekend morning. They arranged small groceries stall in front of the building. The architecture and the colour is astonishing.

This beautiful red building is hard difficult to miss as it is in the city cetnre. Both from the outside but also from the inside it is really beautiful especially if you go during Christmas and in the night where they have a big beautiful Christmas tree! All in all, it is a must see attraction!

If you go on a trip to the Old Town or market plaza and miss seeing this building then you must be color blind. This very striking reddish structure contain some unique embellishments such as a side wall panel inside the square with different faces. As other TA reviews mentioned, it would have been good if more English descriptions are... More

Can’t miss this building from the outside. The Town Hall is a five hundred years old building, and houses the meetings of the Cantonal Parliament as well as the Cantonal Government of the canton of Basel-Stadt. This beautiful bright red city hall has stunning and colorful motifs both on the facade and the inner courtyard illustrating the city's turbulent past.... More

It's Basel's most iconic government building. I go there to vote if I'm late doing so by mail. Others actually run the city from there. In the wintertime there's a nice christmas tree. and it's nice. go there.
