We enjoyed whiling away some time sitting by the fountains, watching them go through their quirky motions. They're easy to find, just off Barfüsserplatz.

This museum is a must visit, especially for families with kids (most of the exhibits are interactive). One of a kind art.

It was great to see all the mechanical machines in action during my visit. Unfortunately, by the time I retreived my camera from my bag the display stopped moving and did not move again while I was there. Still it was nice while it lasted. It is a free exhibit and should be seen while in the old town area.

Wow I loved this museum of working models and art. Well worth a visit. It was interesting how the artist drew you into the museum by putting a working juke box in the grounds. The museum also used gate barriers and produced reindeer which visitors could move around and make there own piece of art. A great day on a... More

This was a large fountain area where one can sit and relax. The fountain contains many interesting build metal objects that spray water or displace water in many different ways. The splashing of the water made us feel a little more relaxed. There are some amusing displays and are sure to intrigue children of all ages.

We made the trip here based on reviews below, but I cannot understand the attraction .... A few fountains, and a little art ... there is not much to see here .... Ok if you are passing but certainly not worth a detour.

We were only in Basel for one day, so this was one of the few things we saw outside of Old Town. It was really great. Very creative and playful mechanical sculptures that are a pleasure for all ages to experience. I like to see art in motion. It brings a whole new dimension to the experience. Pictures of moving... My children really enjoyed playing with others at this fountain & watching water splashes from the machines made them laughed nonstop. A good rest stop to fence off the summer heat too.

It is a nice place to relax and just observe the crazy mechanisms made by Tinguely. It is a very popular spot among tourists and natives alike so it can get a little crowded specially in summer.
