My children really enjoyed playing with others at this fountain & watching water splashes from the machines made them laughed nonstop. A good rest stop to fence off the summer heat too.

It is a nice place to relax and just observe the crazy mechanisms made by Tinguely. It is a very popular spot among tourists and natives alike so it can get a little crowded specially in summer.

Very nice square and well worth a view if strolling through the city. Chill an have a beer with the locals.

Watching Tinguely's nine sculptures busily spraying water about, paddling it away, sieving it, pouring it makes you realize that all these cute little entities are very busy doing very pointless work. And that leads to further musings on the meaning of life, and whether we live to work, or work to live... and so on...

A fascinating and humorous fountain created by Tinguely, the Swiss artist. He used pieces and remnants of the old theater to build this fountain as a living tribute to stage arts.

If time had permitted I would have sat here all day watching these little interesting machine-like sculpture/water fountains. Kids and adults will be equally amused by these fountains.

The Tinguely Fountain has become an attraction that appeals to locals and tourists alike and to all children no matte how old. The nine mechanical creatures spray, squirt, bubble and pour water in a shallow pool. Each seems to have a personality and onlookers are delighted to describe their favorite. Designed by Jean Tinguley, the fountain is simply wonderful with... More

The Tinguely Brunnen is a must see in Basel. The funny shapes in the water spit out water while parts move. Fun to watch and cool down in summer

Have seen this in 2010, 2012 and 2014. Always fascinating. Tinguely was a Swiss philanthropist and artist.

Very interesting place….our grandchildren of 6 and 8 just loved being able to touch some of the exhibits and it is certainly stimulating for the minds of young and old alike.
