Even in the winter, watching Tinguely's machine spouting water is always entertaining. Even though the day was gray I had to stop for awhile.

This fountain is always very interesting but best visited in winter when temperatures are around or below zero. The sprinklers coat the statues in fine mist which then builds up around the metal statues as icicles. So cool!

visit the Tinguely-fountain in Basel. Tinguely placed his fountain on the site where the stage of the old city theatre formerly was located. It is real fun - not only for the kids - to watch all the moving maching spouting water at each other.

A great example of engineering, they are most unusual with each exhibit working independently. It is fasinating just to stop and watch them. It was late december when we were there and very cold so unable to stop very long but well worth a visit.

A delightful day spent wandering through this outstanding museum on a perfect day. Challenging and creative exhibits which got us thinking. Wish there were more of these types of museums to visit in Australia,

Where the stage of the old city theater company once stood, in 1977 Jean Tinguely created sculptural machines in a shallow fountain and in the process gifted Basel a famous new landmark. Each of these machines/works of art/sculptures are a fitting tribute to the field of engineering. We stopped to see them several times, it was mesmerizing just to watch... More

These fountains were so unusual and very cleverly designed. We stopped by to see them at least three times during our visit. In the heart of the Barfusserplatz; a must see!

These are located near the Theatre just past Barfusaplatz and worth a visit. It's different construction from various objects that Jean Tinguely a local artist has built. In winter when they freeze they make some great photos

This is such a classic. I have done many times. It is entertaining (so good for both young adults couples or families). If in summer, you should go there walking along the Rhine.

Beautiful water foundation. Situated near the tourist office. Each sculpture is a work of art and fitting tribute to the field of engineering. Would spend all day here people watching
