Whilst the Swiss seem to like their fountains this is one of the most unusual we saw! Stop and look at many moving sculptures for a few moments as they all move differently. Entertaining for children and adults. Only heard of it when the receptionist at the hotel mentioned it though, as it was not in our guide book, so... More

Really unusual fountain in central Basel with about a dozen unusual sculptures which use the water. Very enjoyable to watch.

This is the original fountain with moving machines by local artist Tinguely and his best! Even in winter, when the water partly freezes, it is still amusing. Always worth stopping here for a while to enjoy his sense of humour.

The Tingley fountain is sort of a city staple. It’s really cool with its moving parts. I was there on an extremely hot day, and there was a crowd of people huddled in the shade just watching it. It’s probably a nice place to relax when the weather is more amenable.

Visited this by chance as we were walking past it. Really amazing water fountain and would be of particular interest to young children. Lots of moving parts and action and all completely free!

Loved the uniqueness of this moving fountain - free and easily accessed by tram (get a free mobility ticket from your hotel)

This amazing large fountain working and moving art piece was shown to us on a walking tour of the city. I was so impressed by it that I was inspired to visit the Tinguely museum where there are many small and large works. But this fountain seemed to be the most beautiful and practical.

If you happen by, it is fun to look at, but not worth a special trip to see the water. Visit the tinguely museum instead

Another interesting water art display - while it may not be worth a special trip to visit its on the tourist walk.
