In the middle of the city. Easy to get to by tram. Animals are well cared for. They continue to improve the housing.

You can reach the zoo easily by tram (no.10 in Aug 2014), the stop is right in front of the entrance. The price of a ticket for an adult is not too bad, but note if you buy the Basel card, as I did, you are able to enter for free and you get a lot of other perks with... More

Very conveniently located in the city and easy to get to using public transport. The zoo is nicely set out and our 5 year old granddaughter enjoyed the playground as much as the animals. Worth a visit and a pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

Fantastic range of animals and creatures to see - sadly the wolves were hiding when I went! Good entry price, and the restaurant had nice food (although that was pricey!) I didn't stay long enough to see the Sealion feeding, which is normally held about 4pm I think but I still had a good time. Would recommend for anyone, I... More

We visited Basel on a Sunday. We walked around a little in the city, but found that NOTHING was open apart from some coffee shops (Maybe Museums? Didn't check) But anyway, as we had a late flight home and couldn't spend 6 hours in Starbucks, the Zoo seemed a good place to go... ...We were right!! It was CHF18 each... More

We enjoyed the zoo but had difficulty navigating because the signs were not in English. Multi-lingual signs would have been nice. If I recall, the signs may have been multi-lingual, they just did not include English as one of the languages. The only sign we saw with an Englsih translatiion was about not feeding the animals. The zoo was a... More

Our 3 year olds first zoo visit but it was a joyous trip for all the three of us. The entire park was very easy to manuere with strollers. There were a lot of special attractions like feeding the animals, climbing the pony and going for a walk and the seal show. Kids will love it when the penguins jump... More

It is a well organized Zoo and the children find a suitable environment for their need of understanding. The animals have space enough for their life and they are in a sustainable situation: even if it is clear that they are not free.

Visit the zoo with a friend on a rainy day. The new monkey enclosure is impressive. Got to see the newborn rino. The staff are all very friendly and the zoo is very well kept. Definitely worth the visit!
