The zoo is nice, but it is quite small and as others noted in previous reviews, many of the animals were not visible because of the cooler winter weather. With that in mind, the price of 18 chf for a single adult ticket (25 yrs+) was pretty steep. For a discount, visit on Monday when an adult ticket only costs... More

It's definitely worth seeing the Zoo Basel. As a guest who has had the opportunity to go "behind the scenes" or "behind the cages" in the Zoo I saw with how much care and love the animals were treated and by professionals only. It's not as big as the Zoo Zurich but in my opinion Zoo Basel is just as... More

Basel Zoo is a great day out for everyone. It is quite compact and extremely clean. The animals are very well looked after. It is very accessible by tram and plenty to do and see.

Not the biggest zoo, not the most unique zoo. The animals don't seem very happy to be honest. Would not come back, once is enough.

Had a good time at Basel Zoo. Entrance was 18 francs, I was actually really surprised at how big the complex was. I spent over two hours walking around and I don't think I actually saw everything there was to see! Good amount of animals and a good couple of reasonable priced cafes if you want to grab some lunch... More

We just visited Zoo Basel yesterday and it was really nice besides the cold weather. There were lots of baby animals, such as penguins, kangaroo (inside mommy's pouch), wild boars and some others. I had a free ticket but my husband had to pay 18CHF. It is a little steep in my opinion but as we were only paying one... More

The Basel zoo is great to visit, whether with the family or with friends. There are plenty of different animals as well as an impressive aquarium. The little rhino is quite an attraction itself and loves to entertain the crowd.

I got a 24h Basel Card and was entitled to visit the Zoo for free. The Basel Card only costs CHF20 and also includes, amongst other things, free walking tour whereas an adult ticket for the Zoo costs CHF18. I would therefore highly recommend getting a Basel Card if you also intend to join the walking tour. If you are... More
