The zoo is right downtown to easy to get to by tram. You can also have reduction if you sleep in hotels around. For young kids the price is ridiculous. The zoo is small but very well furnished and each animal has very nice surroundings. It is very pretty and the animals look quite happy. For the size of the... More

you can spend the whole day here if you share so inclined or just a couple of hours. Many, many animals sympathetically housed. Free entry with Basel card.

The Basel Zoo is absolutely great, for kids and parents. There is a very nice restaurant (even though quite expensive, maybe bring your own drinks and water or even food for a picnic).

There are millions of galleries and museums in Basel, but we opted for the zoo. Very well ran zoo. The whole place has a really nice vibe about it. Plenty of green spaces, animals looked happy and taken care off and the tickets were reasonable (I think it was about £20 for the of us). One of the best zoo's... More

So much to see here in Basel Zoo. They are in the middle of a make over for some of the animals, the elephants in particular are having a new home. All the animals looked well cared for. I particularly liked the aquarium with so many different fish. It is very close to the heart of the city so very... More

As far as zoos go this one is quite good! It is well set up and can be visited in both summer and winter. If you have kids itching to do the outdoors this is something you should not miss in Basel

I mainly went as it is included on the Baselcard. The tram stops at the main entrances and I would definitely recommend getting there by tram rather than walking as it is easy to get lost round there. The zoo opens at 8 but the animals don't seem to wake until around 10, at least in winter. I arrived at... More

We had a great day, a full 6hrs wandering the Zoo, which we've not done for sometime. It was during the schools Easter break and the Zoo was very busy but you didn't get that "over crowded feeling" The weather was great and lots of the animals were out enjoying the sun. Like the Sunbear, Hippos, giraffes (even the latest... More
