How often do you get up close and personal with four gorgeous cheetah cubs and their mother? When we first visited the enclosure the family were right at the back and you could only see a flash of fur. We went into the reptile house that has a glass screen overlooking the side of the enclosure. Nothing happened so we... More

If you look on a map it doesn´t look much but in reality there are more animals than you could imagine - most very interesting. Due to the landscape it is also a really nice walk. But the top spot is the aquarium - the best I have seen - and I have seen many. Especially the corrall landscapes are... More

Just got back from a visit to Zoo Basel. Went with 2 kids, 13 & 11. We loved it! It was a beautiful day and the zoo was quite empty. Easy to get around although not much English to be found (as expected). Gorillas were definitely the highlight, with the lions a close second. Kids loved the fish & reptiles.... More

My wife and I often go to Basel zoo on a sunny Sunday afternoon as it's a wonderfully relaxing way to pass a couple of hours. The enclosures seem to have enough to challenge and entertain the animals, the paths are clean and it doesn't feel too crammed in even though it's not huge New Elephant enclosure is on it's... More

The Basel zoo is not just for children. I have orgnised several visits for adults and it is a great place for a business event. We had behind the scenes visits and there is always an expert to provide intersting details. Reserve the expert and your chosen theme and restaurant well in advance.

this zoo convinced me that nature can be studied, cured, loved and carefylly protected in the middle of the city. The balance between respect for animals and didactics for the visitors is just to admire. Seeing the staff playing football with the cheeta is something I won't ever forget!

In the middle of the city. Easy to get to by tram. Animals are well cared for. They continue to improve the housing.

You can reach the zoo easily by tram (no.10 in Aug 2014), the stop is right in front of the entrance. The price of a ticket for an adult is not too bad, but note if you buy the Basel card, as I did, you are able to enter for free and you get a lot of other perks with... More

Very conveniently located in the city and easy to get to using public transport. The zoo is nicely set out and our 5 year old granddaughter enjoyed the playground as much as the animals. Worth a visit and a pleasant way to spend an afternoon.

Fantastic range of animals and creatures to see - sadly the wolves were hiding when I went! Good entry price, and the restaurant had nice food (although that was pricey!) I didn't stay long enough to see the Sealion feeding, which is normally held about 4pm I think but I still had a good time. Would recommend for anyone, I... More
