Visited this museum as part of a trip to Perugia and included it on our Perugia City Card. The museum is in an old church/cloister and the building itself is quite beautiful. The collection, however, was not really up to what we expected. There are quite a few Etruscan funerary urns in the cloister area and one good reproduction of... More

If you are at all interested in learning a bit about ancient civilization in Italy this is a great museum to visit. You can start with a pictorial review of prehistoric sites and finds and progress through Etruscan history into the later Roman era with amazing remnants of those civilizations. Did you know that the Etruscans were already exporting wine... More

If you've any interest whatsoever in the Etruscans and/or ancient history, this is your zone for a grand total of four (4!) euros. I'm a Classics student, and have been there twice. It's not quite as fabulous as the museums in Tarquinia and Chiusi due largely to it's somewhat dated bldg - like many state-funded institutions in the current economy,... More

Light, airy, spacious, with a modern feel (it was only reopened a few years ago), full of variety, with well-lit, uncluttered displays, not patronising, not intimidating, not claustrophobic, helpful and intelligent people working there, it's nearly perfect... The only possible negative is that it's a ten or fifteen minute walk from the centre. I got a taxi. The person in... More

If you are on perugia or Umbria this museum is a must visit. It is well laid out with a number of different exhibitions. My favourites were the Etruscan and prehistoric sections. The views from the museum and just to sit in the solitude of history are worth the visit alone.

While there is a lot to see at the Archeological Museum, the exhibition is at times not very interesting and a leaflet/guide book would have been very helpful. At least, the information about the objects being exhibited should have been available also in English not just Italian throughout.

If you are just a little interested in history, you should go to this nice museum. It covers all ages of Perugia, but the most impressing and charming part is the Collection af etruscan artifacts - from tombstones and wagons of war, to delicate jewellery and pottery. In Rome or Firenze this museum would be crowded, but here in Perugia... More
