going from Assisi to Perugia, we had plenty of time and stopped to see this lake we had never seen (fourth largest in Italy, if I remember correctly) while we drove all the way around it, that's not really necessary, but a small town on a rise provides spectacular lake views.

Lots of restaurants at the lake. Picturesque but a 20 minute drive from the city. This is the place to have fish as they catch right here.

I highly recommend a visit to this lake in summer, it's absolutely beautiful. Walking along the water front is a must. If you're in Passignano, I highly recommend walking up to the top of the castle on the hill for stunning views of the lake.

We decided to spend a day of our vacation exploring this Lake. We were led to believe that there was a path around the lake (at least a portion) where one can ride a bike. There was a path, however much was muddy and covered with brush and we were forced to turn around a few kilomters out when the... More

Passignano sul Trasimeno is a great destination in its own right, especially during the late July week long festival di Palio dei barche when a week of music, races on foot, public dining in the streets and fireworks culminates in boat races on the lake... But it's also great as one point to take the boat 20 minutes one of... More

We stayed on a lakeside campsite and enjoyed the pleasures of this pretty lake and surrounding towns. The water is lovely to swim in, there are hills around to walk in, and several small towns in which to walk around and enjoy a glass of wine in. It is NOT spectacular but for a few peaceful days it is a... More

Not one of the more popular Italian lakes, but we enjoyed the visit and both our campsite and the local town were very attractive

We drove to Passignano sul Trasimeno - it was quiet. The lake has an island which you can visit but we did not. Probably you could spend a couple of hours there having a coffee or visiting one of the restaurants but really the town had little going for it and the lake was just that - a big lake!

The Trasimeno region is a wonderful place to stay, the location is perfect to visit effortlessly a lot of destinations, both locally and in the near Tuscany. You will see incredible nature, medieval towns on every hill crown it like the gems of a jewel. Local food is amazing and don't miss the chance to taste the local wine also.
