Circular drive around the lake

Really afternoon trip visiting quiet typically Italian lakeside villages with historic castles and good restaurants.

The lake is very nice all year round. You can sit on the cost and take a sun or make a bath during summer time. Is really lovely to take the boot and go to Isola Maggiore, lovely place! Or look the sunset for one of the beaches- take time and do this !

Not the most fancy, but for sure the most beautiful and peaceful lake you will find in Italy. Ideal starting place for trips in Umbria and southern Tuscany.

We came here on a hot July day. The main issue is that in the heat there are not many places with enough shade so that you can enjoy a full day here. There are places with swimming pools but you pay a lot to use them. The lake is not that clean looking that you could swim in it.... More

We visited Castiglione del lago and there is a really nice small beach. Even though it was 38 degrees there was plenty of space. There is also a small snack bar/cafe with small dishes and free wifi. The ferry to the island is just a few minutes away.

Went here by train to cool off from the heat in Perugia (just 30minutes by train to Passignano sul Trasimeno, 2.5EUR) and took a walk to the nearest beach (Sualzo, if I'm not mistaken) and stayed there for the afternoon. There were a lot of tourists, but it is a good place to relax if you are alone. There is... More

We stopped by on a 100 degree day for a swim. Lovely water. If you have time, take the ferry from San Feliciano to the island and wander around.

A day trip from Montepulciano to lake Trasimeno to go swimming and a day at the beach. We stopped at Sualzo Beach just by Passignano. A well organised facility with a small restaurant and bar. Really friendly service too. The lake is beautiful and you can go to the small islands as well.

The 4th biggest lake in Italy is extremely quiet. It should have a lot of potential, the lake itself is nice. But there is just not that much going on. No nice roads along the water, hardly any beaches, nothing. We had hoped to spend a couple of days here but we visited Isla Magiore (which is nice) and left... More
