Considering when it was built and what it has been through, wars, multiple earthquakes not to mention the crowds piled on it every May 15 for the raising of the Ceri,it's a miracle of engineering as well as a work of art. Hats off to the Maestri!

The Piazza is surrounded by original heritage, most of them well preserved buildings. The view into the Umbrian valley is spectacular.

It's a small open plaza but the view is awesome! The view from the side is on all the postcards. It's a must see in Gubbio!

This piazza provides excellent views over the vast majority of the village of Gubbio and the surrounding countryside - bring a wide-angle lens

The piazza grande and palace are quite a remarkable structure as the largest supported piazza in Europe it dominates the town , it was quiet in October so we explored at our leisure, the palace Dei Consoli is now a museum and is well worth having a stroll round , there are many stairs and interesting exhibits in little side... Great place to overlook the city of Gubbio. Palace is a worthy place to go in and visit also..Just a short walk up the main street from the parking area.

One of Italy's memorable squares. The architecture is medieval and some of the best in the country. It's a climb but worth it. Elevators are available also.

Open square with red bricks for pavement, City palace with tower on one side and houses of important citizens all around. All together are just background for visitirs who want to see the view all around Umbria. Less tourists than in some other towns, nice in the morning or evening.

This Piazza isn't truly anything special, but the view it provides is worth the trip! It is a little bit of a hike up, but it it worth the view! Trust me! (Went Summer 2012).

Gubbio is a lovely town. We stopped on our way through Umbria to Tuscany. We stopped for a few hours which, for us, was enough time to visit the Roman Theatre, built in the 1st century BC, the Piazza Grande which was nice but nothing more, the Church of San Francesco with its wonderful frescoes, and strolling through the town...
