Honestly, we were only in Gubbio for something to do on a chilly day that threatened rain. We were glad we went. It is a beautiful town with the Piazza Grande as the show piece. Two pieces of information: 1. The town is very steep and there are free elevators to get you from level-to-level. 2. Bathrooms are public pay... More

This is the first real top attraction of Gubbio, the city center, the famous Piazza Grande, a large square literally crowed of tourists at all hours of the day, a beautiful panoramic view from here down to see the Roman amphitheater , and the beautiful Palazzo dei Consoli that houses the museum. An idyllic atmosphere, all adorned this magnificent medieval... More

This place is the best place to show your talent when it comes to photography... Where you can see the whole city below... The beautiful tiles and the old rooftops...

We were staying near Perugia so did a day trip to Gubbio. This was made easy as we had a hire car, it also meant we could stop anytime we saw something interesting to photograph or even do short walks. The countryside was so green, with stone buildings and orchards, trees lined up along tops of hills. As soon as... More

Gubbio is a stunning Renaissance jewel and the Piazza is the focal point. The main car park is by the Roman theatre (there are many better Roman theatres in Italy) and you walk up the hill through beautiful narrow streets until you reach the Piazza - and an amazing view. When we visited the Piazza was being set up for... More

A friend recommended that we visit Gubbio while we were in Italy for Christmas. We took a train from Rome, exiting at the closest train station in Fossato di Vico. We then boarded a bus for the 12 mile trip to Gubbio. This medieval hill town is in the Umbria region of central Italy. Our trip took about 3hrs. and,... More

We love to go to Gubbio near Christmas time. They have a way of celebrating that even heretics like me can enjoy. Browse this piazza and the streets and enjoy. The Christmas tree on the side of the mountain is, supposedly the largest in the world. I don't doubt it!

I recommend any visit to Gubbio because as small as it is, there is a lot to see. The pink Duomo is one with an unforgettable fresco by il Pinturicchio. The statue of San Francesco meeting the wolf is another. The Fontana dei Pazzi which is a bit of a challenge to find among the tiny winding streets in the... More

Gubbio is a charming medieval town just down the road from Umbertide and Perugia. The town is set against the slopes of Mt. Ingino and you requires a bit of a hike to reach the upper levels and the main piazza. But the hike is worth it. From the central piazza you will enjoy a lovely view of the church... More

access to the lift was very handy but be aware of closing and opening times or otherwise be prepared for a steep climb
