What an amazing way to see the surrounding countryside. A 10 min ride in a metal basket which fits 2 people for 4 euros one way or 6 euros return each. It looks a little scary but it's safe and a lot of fun and the views from the top are stunning. Don't miss the basilica of Saint Ubaldo which... More

I'm scared of heights but this was fun! This lift felt a lot safer and more secure than it looked. The kids and I loved riding it. The views and the basilica at the top were very much worth seeing. Read more about our time in Umbria on our blog, World Travel Family.

Like a basket attached to a cable, these people carriers ascend to a terrific viewing point over Gubbio. Great fun for a few euro. Travel as a single or a duo, all good fun as one leaps on and off the non stop ride. Enjoy coffee on the terrace at the top and have fun watching people leap on and... More

We stumbled on these little cable cars whilst walking through Gubbio. It looked a bit dodgy but fun so we gave it a go! You have to jump in quick with help from the man operating it and then hold only to each other as you are carried up the hill in a small circular cage! On reaching the top... More

It took our fourth time in Gubbio to finally take this wonderful ride up the mountain. We should have done it sooner, it is much easier than it looks. Getting on and off is the easy. Even those challenged by heights will survive to see the breathtaking views.

You must ride the Funivia to experience the ride in itself plus the sensational views. You need to be able to step up quickly into the cage as it doesn't stop - but the staff assist you both on & off so it isn't a problem - you can go by yourself or two can travel together - but once... More

Even though we ski and ride chair lifts, this "basket" carrying people up the mountain looked intimidating. It was not! As long as you stand on the red dot the operator helps you jump in and out and once you are in the "basket" the views are outstanding and worth it.

I thought 7 Euros a person was a little expensive for this but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the scenery as you went up (and down) the mountain in the somewhat rickety basket.

So it looks a little dodgy- but it's fantastic. You won't forget riding up the beautiful hillside in a little cage built for 2 and the wonderful views of Gubbio. It's cheap and great fun!

An amusement ride above a gorgeous medieval town -- well worth the 4 euro to ride up to the top in a little cage. So cool, especially in good weather!
