Not much to look at from the outside but beautiful interior, very quiet and worth a visit that will not take long

The outside has impressive columns. The inside is Baroque. Not a huge place. Inside has a few Roman features left from original Temple of Minerva if you know what you are looking at. It does not take long to visit this place unless you are attending religious services. Good for a quick peek or to sit and relax for a... More

I came upon this church by random walking. Inside was amazing artwork and presence. Worth the visit, very peaceful . Pictures are allowed. A priest was quietly sitting in a back pew, and was deep in prayer. Statutes are beautiful .

This is a unique church spanning 2,000 years - full of rich history - both Catholic and Roman. A historian's dream. Every time we go to Assisi we spend time here.

We always try to attend at least one service in this church, because the TOR friars make it a specially Franciscan experience. Sometimes there are guitar-playing brothers and hymns. When we went with friends in March 2007 we were greeted by a very friendly elderly Brother who spoke English and showed us all the pictures in the baroque ceiling. When... More

Many of the other religious sites around Asissi can overshadow this find. Right in the Town Square it should not be missed. From the time you walk up the ancient Roman steps you get the sense you are stepping back in time. The interior is breathtaking.

Very beautiful, especially the rose windows. Probably not worth a dedicated trip to the church but certainly worth walking a block when you're at the Pantheon.

This church is in the perfect location of Assisi--- directly in the middle of town, centered in the main piazza. It is so quaint and beautiful inside, with a definite sense of peace and love within it. Perhaps the only Marian church in Assisi...the Blessed Mother statue is directly above the altar with a crown of illuminated stars. So beautiful!... More

On our visit to Assisi I explored the church of Santa Maria sopra Minerva with its façade of huge pillars looking out onto the square. The façade and columns of this temple are the most intact in Italy, it is also one of Italy’s oldest temples which was converted into a Catholic church. The church itself is quite ornate but... More
