The climb to the top of the tower wasn't too tough, over 200 steps and the view is worth it!! We were there on a very windy day. The gusts made it difficult to stand, but it was really fun! More

It's a long way up but the charming views of the town below and surrounding countryside are spectacular. More

I guess the majority of visitors are there for the climb to the top of the Torre Grossa. It certainly doesn't disappoint and is well worth the effort for the phenomenal views of this beautiful town and its surrounds. The Palazzo is well worth a little time too though - the interior of the building is beautiful and gives a... More

The trip up the tower may be hard work, but the view from the top is spectacular and worth every breathe. More

One of the 'postcard' views of Tuscany is to be enjoyed from the tower. We Visited the miniture village first and when we then looked down on the town from the tower, it really added to our understanding of the history and life of this unique place. More

My less than 5 star rating is really a matter of how you handle heights rather than the tower. The inside stair case is about 8 stories high, about 3' to 4' wide and clings to the inside surface of the tower's stone wall with a large, empty space in the middle of the tower. Coupled with the stairs being... More

Went to visit San Gimignano for the day. There are around four parking areas outside the town walls. The Palazzo Communale which is the town hall, lies in the Piazza del Duomo. Adults paid five Euros and the kids were four Euros each. Inside is a hall known as 'Sala di Dante' which shows hunting scenes and tournaments. Another room... More

I must admit that I did not go all the way up, I chickened out. My fear of heights kicked in and I could not move any further, I stopped one level before the top... My other half went without me to take some photos for me. He says it was really good and so I would recommend that you... More

Torre Grossa is as it's name implies. The Tower is the tallest in San Giminiano and provides the best view we had in all of Tuscany. To get that view, however, you must depart from 5EUR per person, which gives you access to a small museum in the Palazzo which we didn't really find interesting. The climb is long, but... More
