The medieval city walls border the Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles) is where you’ll find the city’s famous Torre Pendente (leaning bell tower), impressive medieval Cathedral, Baptistery and the Camposanto Monumentale (monumental cemetery). At the end of Campo dei Miracoli, just after the baptistery you can see the old city walls and they are fascinating (although a much more complete & better example can be seen in Lucca) . As you walk through the archway you get a very good impression of how thick the walls were. You can also imagine & wonder... More

Le mure di Pisa form an important element of the attraction of the antiquities and historic centre of the city. For us, seeing the medieval walls in the Piazza dei Miracoli added to the beauty and fascination of the whole area, locating the Torre Pendente and Duomo in a wonderful setting.
