This monument is a must if you are visiting Pisa. It stands in the middle of the green "Miracle Place" and forms a unique monumental complex with the Baptistery, the Cimitery and of course the world-reknowned leaning Tower. Entry to the church is free, but you need to collect your ticket (valid for max. 2 people) at the ticket office... More

The price of entry is included in the 18 euro price of going up the leaning tower. A very clean and pleasant cathedral with many paintings. Situated right next to the leaning tower of Pisa.

As we were waiting for our trip up the tower we went to see the Cathedral which was a cool experience on two levels, firstly for the welcome shelter from the midday sun (which even in Sept was too hot to stay in for long), but this is also a very beautiful building in and of itself.

Seriously, this cathedral is really really really beautiful. I was really amazed when I saw it from the outside, and even much more amazed about the interior. It shows the richness and great architecture of its era.

It's not only the tower that is leaning in Pisa. In fact, all the building are! The cathedral is very nice but what i loved most was the big candelabrum near the altar. It's said that Galileo Galilei tested his laws of the pendulum using this candelabrum. I've got time transported!

A large church, with some nice and interesting paintings and artifacts. The church is actually more impressive than the tower itself. On the right side of the church, there are tombs of some famous people. Do wander around. Best thing is free!

I am not a Catholic but was overwhelmed by this. We went to the one in Florence and it wasn't a patch on this one. I got carried away taking photos and ended up with 135 of them, brilliant.

We went in here on our second day after lunch, there was no queue to get in. We only got a ticket for the Baptistry and this cathedral as we'd done the tower the day before. Really relaxing wandering around this looking at the art etc. well worth it.

The size, the art, the history ... this is one of the most impressive cathedrals that we visited during our trip to Europe. We'd originally gone to see the leaning tower, but it was the cathedral that amazed us and made the trip really worthwhile :) Also note, if you are looking for gelati, there is a store which sells...
