We are glad that we bought our tickets ahead online as the weather was nice on our arrival and there were large crowds to go up the Tower. The Tower is stunning its' beauty and architecture; pictures seen previously do not do it justice. The view from the top very enjoyable seeing everyone down below taking their selfies of the... More

this place is so iconic that it is worth fighting the crowds and the weaving through the tacky, over touristy area immediately around the site. the crowds are overbearing, it can be hard to get the picture that you want, but if you are in the area, you should go here, take your picture, climb the steps to the top... More of a bucket list thing. I'm glad I went, but don't need to go back. The site was very crowded and we were rushed off the tower just minutes after climbing to the top.

We went to Pisa as part of our Walkabout Florence "Best of Tuscany" tour (reviewed separately). We parked some distance away from the tower, and took the tourist "train" into the area. We did not pay to go up the tower, as we heard from others that, although it was easy to get a ticket upon arrival, the view and... More

Absolutely incredible that a building whose foundation has sunk so much hasn't collapsed. Also the tower and basilica are very beautiful

Since only groups of 40 people are allowed to climb the tower every 30 minutes it is best if you book your ticket ahead (either online or in the ticket office across the Tower). There's a short introduction about the history of the tower, than you have to climb the narrow staircase to the top. The view is really worth... More

We visited Pisa in July on the way from Vernazza to Florence. We enjoyed seeing the Leaning Tower! We stored our large bags at the train station, walked to the Field of Miracles, and enjoyed climbing the leaning tower and visiting the duomo. We bought the advance purchase ticket online. There were no signs at the tower, but it turned... More

We only saw the tower from the outside but were very impressed. When you are in Pisa, you also need to see the Duomo, The Baptistry and the Camposanto.

This iconic landmark must be seen in up close and personal as photos cannot fully capture its beauty and grandeur. Even more fascinating is to learn the backstory of it, and the tale of Galileo and his cannonballs. It was late afternoon, yet the area was still saturated with tourists and tour groups. It was also entertaining to watch people... More
