Spent a week recently at LIS with my wife after debating the value of dedicating the time. We have taken a number of courses in the US and were concerned that we wouldn't learn much in a week. But with a month to travel we decided this would be a good break from castles and churches so we signed up... More

My 9-year old daughter, aunt and I lived in Lucca for three months (Oct. -Dec. 2012) and were fortunate enough to take classes at the Lucca Italian School during our entire stay. It was an incredible experience for all of us. The staff was always helpful and accommodated our various language skill levels. The teachers were incredibly kind to my... More

Spending a month in winter in Lucca learning Italian with a friend was a fantastic experience! Classes were small, the teachers excellent and the city bellissima! We had language lessons in the mornings and on many afternoons our teachers taught cooking, arranged wine tasting or escorted us by train to nearby towns and attractions. I highly recommend the Lucca Italian... More

I have studied Italian for many years and in September 2012 I decided to have an extended stay in Lucca to improve my fluency. I had no intention of going to school while I was there so made no prior arrangements. However, a friend who was attending Lucca Italian School at that time was so pleased with his classes that... Virginia H.I live in Sonoma, California, but I am a frequent visitor to Lucca. I consider it my second home. I've been on a quest to better learn the language, after all these years of loving Italy! I researched all the options in Lucca, and compared it to a larger, more well-known school in Lucca. I cannot recommend LIS highly... More

I returned to Lucca Italian School in September 2012 – I was first there in April 2011. And I am happy to report that they lived up to what I had experienced in 2011. The teachers are very adept at changing plans mid-stream to meet the students’ needs and capabilities. They are energetic and use many different teaching methods to... More

Dear Barb_199, thanks really a lot for your review! We are so happy when a student comes back to school - and even happier if the second time, as you say, is good as the first! Arrivederci a presto! More

I did a two-week course at this school last summer and loved every minute of it. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful, the teachers were fantastic and the lessons were a very clever mix of fun and highly effective learning. The classes are small (no more than six students in my class at any one time)... More

I spent two weeks at Lucca Italian School and would recommend this school to anyone. The teachers are very enthusiastic and it's clear that working there is more than a just a job to them. All communication in the classroom and during the great after-school activities is in Italian - that's a challenge if you are a beginner but it... More

I'm writing this in English just to make sure people don't get the wrong idea about the school reading my bad Italian, because that'd be sad since they're awesome :) I had gone to Lucca two years ago, fallen in love with the city, and knew I had to go back. So when I decided to do an Italian course,... More
