LIS is a school of Italian language and culture located at walking distance from the city center, adjacent to the walls outside S. Anna Gate. We offer group courses and individual classes of Italian for students any age and level, and recreational activities (like excursions, cooking lessons, bike trips, seminaries on Italian cinema or music). Our mission is to provide our students, beside teaching them our language, with a practical and enjoyable experience of our way of life, aiming at a mutually enriching cultural exchange.

I had a great experience at this Italian language school in Lucca. I was initially apprehensive as the lessons are conducted in Italian and I worried that I would not be able understand anything! This was not the case, however, and from day one I felt really at ease and comfortable in the lessons. Upon arrival I had a short... More

This was my second time to Lucca and LIS. I highly recommend this school. The teachers are what make it so special. Of course the setting of a beautiful building in one if the most stunning towns in Italy is a big draw card too! I have already booked again for next year. Can't wait!

I returned to Lucca primarily to attend the school for two weeks. I took the mixed course of 4 hours of group instruction and 1 hour of individual lessons. Again, everyone associated with the school was friendly, helpful and worked at each individual's level even in the group courses. The offer afternoon and evening outings at a reasonable cost. I... I spent two months in Lucca with my family this summer. The idea was to live in Italy instead of just touring. We choose Lucca because of LIS. It was a really good decision. The school was terrific and exceeded my expectations. The school is very professional and answered all my questions before arriving. I was given advice on where... More

I have found "LIS" on the internet, whilel looking for an Italian School for foreigners in Lucca. It was a perfect choice. One gets attributed to a proper class according to the level of Italian. The teachers are very good, patient and available. The school organizes every week various activities after school, like visiting Lucca by night (Lucca sulle stelle), visit... More

My husband and I signed up for one week...tentatively. By the end of the week we were ready for more because the school is so much fun. Our instructor, Susanna, was absolutely fantastic. She encouraged our group with a glowing smile. The extra activities in the afternoon are interesting and informative. The half day format gave us time to relax... More

Sometimes you want to do something extra while touristing than just go around a city or walk up and down the streets and see monuments. To take a class either of the Italian language or cooking (or both for that matter) will give you that something extra. You will feel the pulse of a city (in this case Lucca) from... More

I choose Lucca because I could stay within the walled city and easily walk to the ILS each morning and hopefully take an afternoon or at least weekend excursion to exotic Italian towns. To discover a school where the teachers were extremely competent, friendly and encouraging boosted my confidence enabling me to maximise my learning hours. The management and teachers... More

My mother and I had a great time at Lucca Italian School. With a perfect mix of learning, laughs and local culture the Talk and Cook course was a great week. The teachers were knowledgable and fun, the food was delicious. We're hoping to come back again next year!

In previous years, I went to an Italian language school in Florence that, I thought, was very good. This year, I decided to go to LIS in the beautiful city of Lucca. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made. If you are serious about learning Italian and want to have a LOT of fun learning, LIS... More
