LIS is a school of Italian language and culture located at walking distance from the city center, adjacent to the walls outside S. Anna Gate. We offer group courses and individual classes of Italian for students any age and level, and recreational activities (like excursions, cooking lessons, bike trips, seminaries on Italian cinema or music). Our mission is to provide our students, beside teaching them our language, with a practical and enjoyable experience of our way of life, aiming at a mutually enriching cultural exchange.

I returned for a second time so it must be good! The new location just inside the Lucca city wall is more spacious that the previous location but the same friendly, helpful and inventive staff are there. All, or nearly all, communication is in Italian, including time outside the classroom. The school creates cultural and recreational activities outside the classroom... More

We spent four weeks at LIS from mid February to Mid March 2014. We found the quality of teaching in both small classes and one-to-one tuition to be consistently of a very high standard. This was enhanced by the welcoming and professional atmosphere of the school. We found that our existing level of Italian - beginner/ intermediate - was improved... More

I took a course several years ago. The staff was warm, hospitable, and very dedicated, even for a novice like me. The instruction was very helpful. The new facility is beautiful and well located. I recommend LIS unequivocally.

Last year was the second time that I returned to LIS with joy and pleasure and I was as happy as I was previous year. Guess what I am on my way this year in September as well. Lucca is a beautiful city to start with and this small school with super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff is a gem... More

It is still too difficult for me to write in italien. I stayed at Lucca Italian School from 13th to 17th October for a course Cook and Speak italien. I had a wonderful time in Lucca, saw a lot of the surroundings and learnt a lot at LIS. I would recommend this course to everybody who would like to learn... More

If you are looking for a perfect experience of the Italian culture, at a reasonable rate, I would highly recommend taking the Speak and Cook Italian course at Lucca Italian School. Mornings were spent in a small group speaking/learning the Italian language with others at the same level. My teacher, Silvia made me feel at ease as I "stumbled" with... More

I've just returned from my 3rd stint at Lucca Italian School. Each time I've wondered if the experience can possibly measure up to the previous times and each time the answer is a resounding YES ! In fact, each time is better than ever. This year I again had fabulous instructors, both for class as well as for afternoon excursions.... More

My husband and I recently spent a week at LIS for the first time. It was better than we could have imagined. Every morning was spent in class, totally immersed in Italian. Even as beginners, we had taken some classes before leaving home but we're definitely still at beginner level, we were able to build on the Italian language we... More

This is my third trip to the LIS, the last two trips staying with Rosanna within the city walls. As my Italian has improved I've got to know Rosa and all of the staff as friends and feel part of a larger family. Rosanna looks after me like a mother. September/October is always a good time to visit and see... More

We really enjoyed our experience at LIS. The teacher (Silvia) was fantastic - very patient, a good rhythm of speaking and very clear and showed a lot of creativity in her class structure and planning. She was talented at matching the class abilities with the exercises. It was a fun learning environment with many social extra curricular activities and Lucca... More
