This small, very specialized museum opened in Sept. 2011 after many years of careful restoration. It is housed in the birthplace of Giacomo Puccini, Lucca's favorite son. It's a peaceful place where selections from Puccini operas are played throughout the apartment. There are cabinets full of manuscripts, letters and costume designs, as well as a spectacular costume from a 1926... More

This is a lovely little museum. You can walk yourself through it in half and hour. Beautifully restored, the apartment itself stayed in the family until the last Puccini (the daughter in law) died and left it to the city. More

This is the house where Puccini spent his younger years. There is beautiful opera music playing throughout the house, which is filled with manuscripts, letters, memorabelia, elaborate costumes from the opera Turandot and interesting facts about his life. It is an enjoyable way to spend an hour or so. More

Of particular interest to Puccini fans, of course, but perhaps of less interest to the layman. More

So wonderful to see the Maestro's house after it was closed for such a long time. But it was worth waiting! We were totally engrossed with our visit and Turandot's original costume will be for ever in our minds! More

If you are an opera buff be sure to visit this small museum. A nice collection of prints of costumes and the original costume for Turandot from the Met circa 1920. Also be sure to ask to see the attic (soffita) up a short flight of stairs. Puccini must have had this place in mind when he composed La Boheme. More

This is where Puccini was raised. It is small, and probably can easily be seen in a hour or so. His original musical scores, letters, photos etc in the place, as well as posters from his operas. Highlight is the incredible gown from Turandot in one side room More
