This little museum is well worth a visit to see the artefacts of Puccini. It is well worth finding it in the maze of little streets.

In typical Italian style, the ticket office is situated on the other side of the piazza where the museum is located. Once this was sorted out and we got in we were treated to an impromptu guided tour by one of the attendants (bear in mind that January is a very quiet time for tourism in Italy). Our guide was... It is a well laid out museum and I loved Puccini's music playing throughout the whole visit. It really got me enthused about attending the Una Notte all'Opera that night - which was fabulous!

Having been addicted to Puccini's operas, we found it thrilling to walk through the rooms, admiring the Steinway piano where he wrote some of his music, and reading the letters on display and peering over the music sheets in the drawers. There were paintings of him and his family and an interesting guest shop as well.

I enjoyed pulling out the extra drawers and seeing what his publisher, Ricordi, looked like and reading aletter from Richard Wagner in French. It also had some of his clothes and piano. I am not sure that the decorations and furniture were quite contemporary with Puccini, though. Fantastic Turandot costume in the last room!

This place shouldn't be compared with Maestro's home in Torre del Lago in which he lived for years and has been conserved as a museum. This one is the apartment where he was born, so kept in memory of him for the lovers of his music. The museum is decorated with some furniture of his time (not the original pieces... More

This was great, gave you a real insight into Puccini and his life. Well worth a visit. The letter and music scripts were great. It was also amazing to learning about all the places he visited around the world.

A cosy museum in the flat where Puccini was born. We enjoyed it, though more information about his life would have been nice. There was a biography on a plastic card.

The house has been renovated and replicates how it was in Punccini's time. Lots of his manuscripts and letters to see as well as the household furniture. It is lovely wandering around to the sound of his music.
