Raining and cold it was a nice respite. Though small it is interesting and different.we saw a show of Italian painters who lived in paris during the 30 and 40s.

the Lucca Center for Contemporary Art is a rather recent addition to a town with much architectural significance. The rotating exhibits are always fascinating and feature various media and two and three dimensional art.

A nice change to see some contempory art to contrast with the medieval and reaissance art elsewhere in the town.

First time in this gallery and if this is the quality of other exhibitions then we will return. Photos were a great mixture. The humorous - Brighton beach in the 1950's with men paddling in their suits, a nudist wedding in Kent, pictures of dogs and other animals in unusual settings and then he will hit you with a stunning... I stumbled on this great center by accident and was uplifted immensely by the photographs of the great Elliott Erwitt. Great space well used. Go There

Excellent Elliot Erwitt exhibit. The photos are well displayed in galleries on a couple of floors. Didn't try the restaurant here but it looks trendy.

I enjoyed a pleasant half hour viewing the photographic retrospective of Elliot Erwitt. The exhibition was well displayed in light, airy rooms and the experience was well worth the 7 euros I paid on entry.

We saw a few paintings from the 1880's and thought that we had seen everything and then discovered an exhibition on the ground floor. This would have been okay except that the paintings were displayed in the restaurant so we had to stand and peer over people eating their lunch in order to see them. Very embarassing. Would have considered... More

If, like me, you sometimes want a break from Renaissance Madonna and child paintings, stop by LUCCA which hosts interesting modern and contemporary art exhibits. We saw an exhibition of a group of Italian painters called the macchiaioli, who wanted to break away from religious painting and portray everyday life--basically Italian impressionism. It was well curated with a lot of... More

We did not know this exhibition was on, so being a fan of his work and our apartment being a few metres away made this a great bonus to our already excellent holiday in Lucca ! The gallery is very well appointed and has some great spaces for the exhibition, friendly staff and a quiet, but not 'stuffy' atmosphere. When... More
